I know this has been covered many times before but I thought I would ask anyway. I had a Chariot and my daughter (and I) didn’t really like it. I found it to not roll very smoothly and was heavy. My daughter didn’t like it because she sat so low in the stroller.
On vacation we rented an old Baby Jogger Performance stroller. My daughter loved it and I felt it was so much easier to run with both in weight and ease of rolling.
Unfotuntely, Baby Jogger has discontinued the performance series with the 25th anniversary being the last model a few years back. So I am looking for a good alternative that is meant for runners, rolls well and isn’t too heavy.

Thoughts?
Thanks,

Anything wrong with the good 'ol BOB? That’s my stroller and it’s been pretty much perfect for running. The sunshield is very helpful for it.
I am kind of curious, what exactly do you mean by this? Bad bearings? Out of round wheels? Our standard chariot cougar has a carbon fiber leaf spring system (no kidding), so our 30-lb son finds it pretty darn smooth.
Then, no matter which stroller you use, have you ever used this? We have for several years now and, wow, what a difference (fyi, we have no connection to the company).

+1 on the Chariot Cougar. Heck, it even has adjustable suspension and have used it on trails(compacted dirt, not rocky trails) without issue.
@DarkSpeedWorks: I’ve always wanted to try that thingamagick. You might have given me the push to try it.
We have the revolution. The ironman has a fixed front wheel. We never lock the front wheel on the revolution. Seems harder to use that way if you’re not running on a straight course. I actually run better with it than without.
I have both the single and double BOB Revolution strollers (old versions). I have used them a ton for running and love them. My daughters don’t mind them, although they started in them so don’t know anything else. I would even run (somewhat slowly) with the car seat clipped in when they were real young.
My wife hates pushing a fixed front wheel when walking - so the Ironman model wasn’t a possibility.

we have the ironman. some neighbors gave it to us (they’re not triathletes, we’re not ironpeople. they might have even been given it in the ifrst place).
i’d rather not have the fixed front wheel, but since i do, it’s not that big a deal. i’d run with it more if my son liked it, but he only tolerates it.
We also used it with the car seat adapter when our son was a baby. Awesome.
As they get older you’ll notice that the back support is a little bit slack, meaning that the child could sit a little more upright. Especially when using the snack tray. There was an easy solution to this. If you have the car seat adapter use the red straps that come with it. Just lace them around to the back and buckle. I’m guessing any other manner of strapping could work. We just had that handy.
We bought the Bob Ironman and promptly exchanged for the Revolution back in 2003 when our daughter was born. Much better having the pivoting front wheel for a number of reasons, but you can also lock it.
We’re still using ours with our 4 year old son 9 years later and it’s been on many trips.
BOB Revolution. 2.5 year old has LOVED it for last 2 years! I lock the front wheel, wife doesn’t. Works great both ways. We took it to Miami for 70.3 and it fit perfectly on plane and holds EVERYTHING you need to hold.
My only complaint is that my hands sweat when I run most of the year (Texas) and the foam handle after some time gets funky. I think I’m going to wrap it in bike bar tape. Other than that, It’s the best!

It depends on how fast you run.
If you’re run sub 8min/mile, you really have to have the front wheel locked or it tends to veer. It’s not dangerous or anything, but you won’t be able to push it well in a dead straight line without the wheel locked at those speeds.
At the more usual 10+min/mile which most BOB users run, it might even be easier to run without the front wheel locked since it’s easier to make small adjustments to steering.
I think the ironman has a hand brake, which is probably useful if you’re a fast runner, but I’ve been fine without it on the Revolution. The option to not lock out the front wheel makes it WAY better for general use as well.
The BOB also flattens out to fit through airport security, you have to have it turned upside down the right way. If you’re estill having problems, the wheels come off so easily with QR (similar but easier than bike QRs) so it’s really trivial to remove wheels.
Just go with th BOB revolution. It’s a good stroller.
And get the sun shield. It’s worth it if you’re running a lot outdoors.
I have owne both the bob revolution (double and single) as well as the bob ironman (single). Revolution is much better any time you are not using it for running. If you are set on the ironman, go looking on craigslist.
I can safely say that I’ve had the revolution below 8min miles with the wheel unlocked. I’ve become a pro at holding it with one hand as I run. The stroller too.
I often run sub 8 minute miles and haven’t locked the front wheel since the first month. The only time that I preferred the front wheel locked is going on long straights and doing the push and chase style. My normal route involves lots of curving roads and frequent 90 degree turns. Even on the occasions that I take it on paths with long straights, I prefer the castering front to dodge kids, bikes and dogs.
We have an older model single(2010) and a new dualie. They just did a major upgrade to the Bob’s and they have much better back support than they used to.
