Running Spandex

I know that this topic has been discussed a few times, but I have a specific questions relating to spandex for running. All of the pairs that I have contain seams in the crotch area, which rubs and chafes me on any medium distance or longer run. So the question is, does anyone know of any running spandex that have a seamless crotch area? Thanks in advance.

What is it about tri shorts that don’t work for you in this application? There are seams in the crotch area but there is a the fleece pad between you and the seams.

Tri shorts work just fine when I do bricks or races, but I’m talking about just running (either as a standalone workout or a race). On the spandex that I have, the offending seam goes from the front to the back right through the center and it rubs/chafes my grundle, gooch, taint, pick your word.

Check out the Salomon S-Lab Exo Short. It has a partial brief suspended from the waistband which completely eliminated chafing for me, and I had tried lots of tri shorts unsuccessfully. I don’t know why Salomon doesn’t emphasize that feature.

Wear your retired speedo’s as underwear beneath the tights.

Wear something like this (http://www.amazon.com/adidas-Sport-Performance-Climalite-2-Pack/dp/B004RKJQRC) underneath.

Have you considered not looking like a complete tool and just wearing normal running shorts?

Hey, where’s the fun in that !

I like that you come out guns blazing…

.

Yes, I have. The problem with regular shorts is that they still require an undergarment whether it be underwear or spandex, both of which cause chafing, hence the question.

I would wear the skirt thing if I knew the liner wouldn’t cause me any chafing.

zoot icefill shorts wortk well for me…they have a 6in and 8in version, both on sale at Amazon. They have a compression insert to keep the junk firm, but shorts-style exterior so said junk is not on display. Plus a rear zipper pocket and a hip holster on each side for gels.

Pearl Izumi makes a couple of different tights for men that have a built in “internal brief”. It’s not like what you would find in a running short, but it works.

Running shorts are your best choice. The liner will keep things in place and won’t cause you any problems.

you have to lub up the boys pre-run!!!

Running shorts are fine until about six degrees Celsius. Under that things can be uncomfortable, under minus twenty you’d best be in a fine polypro base made by Jockey with some UnderArmour full length tights. This is especially the case if there is a Saskatchewan wind blowing. Then Mr. Jocko Homo will freeze not only his sack, but the important part of his manhood. This however is NOT the painful part of the exercise, as you will find out, by yourself, in the shower.

Unless Jay Zed is a chick…

just use body glide or similar product…

For those situations I switch to wind boxers topped with cross country ski pants. If its really cold I’ll wear a set of running tights as a mid layer.

And yes… No man should experience the horror of post run junk thaw.

Toughen your grundle.
