Running Shoes for a Guy With Wide Feet Needing Stability

Hey there folks.

Have been wearing New Balance 76x series shoes for a few years now, and I’m really not loving the 767 update that New Balance did last year. I have pretty wide feet (D/E width), a high arch, and I need stability shoes. Any recommendations of other shoes I might check out? I’m hearing that Saucony makes a pretty wide shoe…

Thanks,
Ian

Ian,

I “discovered” Etonic Jepara last fall (every Akron marathon finisher got a pair for free…nice swag!). I have bunions so I need a wide toebox and a stable ride to control my pronation. They’ve been a great shoe for me. Not sure if they make E widths, but worth a look, IMO.

I’ve been using the NB 857’s for over 2 years now and have had a great fit. I have 2E width feet and bunions.

I have EEEE feet with a high arch, and have been wearing Asics Gel Cumulus for years. They work for me.

I wear men’s 9/9.5 4E with an orthotic (arch, pronation). Technically I don’t need a stability shoe but I’ve liked them better:

asics-GEL Evolution
asics-GEL Foundation
New Balance 882
Brooks Addiction (only worn the trail version, but like them for that)

I’ve heard good things about the Mizuno Wave Rider in 2E for feet like mine, but have not tried them.

Good luck!

2nd the NB857’s

Go for Saucony Omni 4 “E” width, $55 Ebay “The Shoe Bin”.

Try the Saucony or Asics. I’ve got size 13 EEE and I’m into Asics GT2120 and Gel Kayano XIII

I run in Brooks Adrenaline GTS. They now come in 2 widths. I got the 2E as my feet swell quite a bit when running.

Not a true stabiltiy shoe (like the Addiction or Beast) but quite good. I don’t know if the Brooks stabiltiy shoes come in the wide version or not, but worth checking them out.

brooks beast. i wear 12 4e and use orthotics for high arches. they work great for me.

I have size 14 4E feet and have been using NB 991 (and 990 previously) with great success. Better than others in the NB line.
