Running Races in Boston Area, St. Patty's Day Weekend

Does anyone know of any good running races in the Boston area the weekend of March 14 and 15? I found the St. Patrick’s Day Road Race and Walk in South Boston on active.com, are there any others?

I will be visiting my girlfriend who lives in Newton, MA so anything within maybe 30 minutes or so of there would be best. Whether it’s a big race or a small local race I don’t really care. Ideally I’d like something like a 5k, 5 miler or even 10k.

Thanks.

A good online source is coolrunning.com. Good luck.

If you are looking for a short race with a good time afterwards, your best bet is probably the Ras na h’Eireann 5k in Davis Square. Over 4000 runners and a massive party split among many bars

or the **St. Patricks Day 5K Road Race and Walk **in South Boston

If you are looking for something longer and have access to a car, you can take a 45 minute drive down to New Bedford to run the New Bedford Half Marathon. There will be a very large and very fast field there as it is a USATF Grand Prix race. Relatively fast course too, though windy for about one mile on the peninsula

Or you can take a shorter drive up (about 25 minutes) to Andover for the 30k. I’ve never done this one before.

Personally I’ll be running the half marathon

Oops… forgot about the 5k. I signed up for the half marathon. 2nd one in 3 weeks. Going to try a few different strategies. Figured too close to change my abilities, but close enough to change strategy to see how things affect it.

Those are probably the 2 best races that weekend.

Good decision anyway. New Bedford always has a ton of fast guys. There’s always someone to chase, unless you are a Kenyan. Fits in better with the whole SlowTwitch HTFU sentiment anyway.

There won’t be a shortage of people for me to chase… not worried about that.
