Running injury free - am I just gullible?

While browsing the internet for a solution to the myriad aches and pains I feel after running, I hit this site - http://www.runningtough.com/run_injury_free.html - and while I like to think of myself as a discerning consumer, I’m tempted to drop the $30 to check it out. As another example, I’m consdering buying a bottle of CytoFlex I saw advertised in Inside Triathlon too. As you can see, I’m getting a little desperate. So give it to me straight, am I being naive here?

Tom

I am right there with you. It sounds very tempting. After all, he does offer your money back after 90 days (just like power cranks but you spend 30 dollars instead of a thousand dollars with no free gifts).

I say go for it: what’s $30 in the grand scheme of things? If it works, make an archival photocopy which I will, ahem, safely store for you.

Yep. That site might as well be an infomerical parody.

Yeah, the guy LOOKS like he’s been running for years…

After I did a google search of “run injury free”, runnersworld.com and jeffgalloway.com were the first 2 hits that came up. Runner’s World is free. Galloway has a whole program. I would trust these guys first.

The guy doing the selling is 6’3" and 230. He may be running injury free, but he isn’t doing very much of it by the look of him.

some of the keys to injury free running are: short runs several times a week, minimum pavement running, good nutrition, stretching, proper warmup, proper shoes, leg and core strengthening, and realistic long term running goals. I think the last one is where a lot of people falter. No one want to hear about multiyear plans to get fit they want 6 week plans.

If I had to guess, I think this guy is probably going to sell you on how to run in the “pose” style…which you can do for free. I am trying to change myself to a forefoot striker with a much shorter stride and a higher cadence and I do notice that my knees bother me less…

You could try that, and it’s completely free.

Some ST’er put up a study that showed that the amount of force on the knees decreases but the force on the ankles increases…

I’m Ok with this.

I agree, if you look at the couple of pictures especially the lower one of Sessie Welzien.
