Running in San Fran

Ok… so, I’m lazy…

Do any of you San Fran Slowtwitchers have a URL or maps on where to run in downtown SF - distances, routes, etc. I’m staying new the Modern Museum of Art/Moscone Center & doing a run week on a hotel treadmill doesn’t sound fun…

You can email me at lobo@mac.com

Here’s a good run for you. I presume you’re at the W.

Run down Market Street to the Embarcadero…turn left carry on for a mile or so to SBC Park loop around it and back the way you came for a 4 miler (ish)

You can also turn left on the Embarcadero and carry on through Fisherman’s wharf, Aquatic Park where lots of the locals do their open water swimming over the Fort Mason Hill to the Marina Green and back for a 7 miler (ish)…you can also keep going all the way to the base of the Golden Gate Bridge and back for a 13 miler (ish).

Just run down Mission or Market to the waterfront and then you can go either left (out towards the Golden Gate Bridge) or right (down towards the ballpark). You are probably +3/4 mile from the Embarcadero. If you run all the way out to the Bridge and back, that’s probably 10-11 miles.

If you want hills, go straight north from your hotel and up and over to Nob Hill or Russian Hill.

Here is my lunch run and it will get in some of the sights as well

Head to the Embarcadero/waterfront - .5 milesish

Turn left toward Fishermans Wharf - 1.5-2 miles

Turn left at end of road on Hayes St. This is at Aquatic Park.
Run, if you can, up Hayes St. This is a cable car route - go 1-2 miles to California street.

But At top of the hill is Lombard Street so stop and look to your left-great view

continue on Hayes st and turn left up California St and run 1 mile

turn right on Powell street and run down to Union Square. Be careful this is steep

Powell street will cross Market and Mission to Howard which will get you within a block or two of the Moscone Center.

Uh, Hyde Street you mean?

After you pass Lombard Street, go 5 blocks and stop and say hi.

Ahh Yea, Hyde street.

Hayes street is the other hill for Bay to Breakers
