Running in Crystal City/DC

Hi. I will be in Crystal City on business for 7 days and need to keep up with the running. I see Arlington National Cemetery is nearby, which could be a good place to run (if it’s allowed). I also saw a road called “4 mile run drive” is this a good place to run?

Any trails or running paths nearby I could pick up. Any group runs in the nearby areas on Saturday or Sunday? Thanks.

In Crystal city right behind the VRE (train) station you can pick up the Mt. Vernon trail which if you go right once on the trail from there heads to Old Town Alexandria, if you head left you will go towards Arlington and from there can pick up the Custis Trail to W&OD which from there is about 40 miles until the end, or you can go over key bridge and hit C&O canal which is a dirt/gravel trail which goes on for a very long time.

I know the new pacers shop in Crystal City does group runs but not sure which days.

There are a lot more places to run depending on how far you want to go, very nice runs over Memorial bridge and around some monuments, can stretch it to appx 10 miles or so worth of pretty flat running.

If you want more detailed info you can PM me.

You could always run at Hains Point or the C and O towpath up in Georgetown. I don’t belong to any of the running clubs, but know there a bunch based out of DC and Northern Virginia. Whenever I travel, I usually check out their websites to see if they have any scheduled runs. I usually try to make it out on their track days.

Hope this helps.

four mile run is not too good for running.

get on the mount vernon trail which is nearby. it parallels the potomac river and is fantastic.

south to mt vernon. north to arlington cemetery/monuments.
