Am going to be in Charlottesville, VA for a wedding this weekend and will be staying on Main Street. Looking to do a 10-12 mile run. Any good trails or routes anyone can recommend?
About 5-10 miles outside of town there is a cool trail you can run–actually it’s a gravel road with very little traffic: Ridge Road. It’s about 4 miles out and 4 miles back–you can turn it into 12 by corssing ridge road and going over to Decca road. Just do a mapquest search and you’ll find it. Lots of local runners use it.
I used to run up and over Obervatory Mountain at UVa. I used the road but lots of people run the trails around the mountain. Univ of Va. is at the end of Main St when it turns into University Ave at 14th St
