I live in a very flat local. So flat that our license plate reads “the only place where you cant jump to your death”
The only hill around is man made toboggan hil. since I am training for oly and a 1/2 marathon in june I want to start some hill work.
Would I be crazy to go to “the hill” and do a few running repeats followed by some biking repeats? Am I begging for trouble or have others had experience doing this?
I live in the Midwest, hills can be scarce. You have to use what is available be it stairs. over-passes or toboggan hills. Even though you get a break coming down, with enough repetitions you cam develop your climbing skills. If you are doing a tight turn at the bottom to start up again be sure to alternate directions so that you are not always turning to th same side.
If strength is the result you are looking for, have no fear, as I am sure, you have a big gear. Emulate the hill, by sitting down, while your pedals slowly make their way around. You can do it for an hour, or even just five, quickly your legs will feel alive. Recruiting these muscles, that are normally lazy, come race day, you feel like the mother, of Stacey. You probably have heard about her in a song, “she’s got it going on.”
Think about Stacey and, of coarse, her mom, next time on the hog when you’re going long. Use these techniques several times/week, by the way, can ya’all ride while taking a leak?
You have 20 gears, to make a choice from, to strengthen your body, while sitting on the bum.
It’s up to you to make that choice,…remember as Slowman does, always stay moist.
