Running 7 days a week. No rest day. Bad?

Completely agree! Great post!

There is definitely a sweet spot for mileage. But the problem is that most people mistake intensity with doing short intervals rather than long sustained high intensity efforts. I was a 14:20 5k guy in college (8 months out now) doing 80-95mpw but I was doing all my mileage at 6:15 pace at the early points of the season until speed work started. That being said, high intensity can be risky for some runners and makes the easy days even more important (a lesson I did not follow closely enough in my NCAA running years).

There’s no exact science to what works, I know a lot of guys who did a shit-ton of miles at 7:00 pace and were fast. I also know guys who did decent mileage at high intensity and were still slow. Find out what works for you and stick to it - best way to prevent injury.
