So I just got back from the WI Dells for a two day mini vacation with the kiddos. It never seems to amaze me at the people you see here. First, people are just rude or ignorant maybe a little of both. This goes both for the parents and kids. Second my god people stop eating and get some friggn’ exercise!!! Unbelievable, these people are just getting fatter and fatter. My wife says to me, I can’t believe all the obese kids here. Not just fat, obese, from 2yrs old and up, but if you saw the parents you would know why. These poor children will never have a chance. And my last rant, white trash. Yes I know what white trash is I deal with “them” everyday, I consider myself an expert. Now this is not a statement against tattoos, I have thought about getting one myself, just have not stepped up…yet. But there is this white trash piece of shit walking around with a large tattoo on his back that says “Fuck off”. Real nice for a family waterpark, and he had 4-5 kids with him. I bet they turn out great, although I am sure they have perfect attendance at the Neo-Nazi rallys! Ok I am done just some observations that I have witnessed and read about from some of you before.
I grew up in WI near Madison. Even in the 1970s and 1980s my parents wouldn’t take us to the Dells. We did the Ducks once for a school trip. That was it.
My best friend still lives in the area and goes there once in awhile. He’s fat and out of shape, gets drunk and wears a bananna hammock to the water park “just to piss people off”.
I went to a talk by a respected sociologist a while ago, he had an interesting point of view that I paraphrase here:
“White Trash” is a racist term. Don’t tell me that it’s OK for you to use it because you are white; the term tacitly insults other races. It originates from the belief that whites due to their innate superiority are not expected to be subordinate in wealth, culture, education, class etc., It was implicitly read as “White yet Trash”, so it piggy backs an element of surprise in pointing out an exceptional anomaly to a general rule that whites do not belong to the “trashy” social class per se. One of its earliest usages has been for categorizing caucasions who were too poor to own slaves.

Well, I just shared that as a satiric side note and as food for thought. Not accusing you of anything and not addressing any particular point in your post. That said, I see no reason why ‘Trash’ alone is not sufficient for conveying what you meant.

I have been to the Canadian version of this at Niagara Falls. I felt that I was the oddball since I have no ink, no gut, and no fat kids… It was still a good time though.

So… you’re within driving distance of the Dells, right? I’m assuming so. Really? If you’re that close, the fact that any of this surprises you…maybe you should get out more
