Rroofie, Meet your new partner

rroof–you need to come up with something for this toe numbness thing. I think we have it beat. If you think about running, your toes are bending up every step, but in the bike they are stationary (stationery?) or down. Yes. I know you have commented on the “down” part, and I have lifted them up. I think I am going to lift them a bit more. Here is what I found on Sundays long ride–my legs were already tired from previous week, and after about four hours, to keep up my speed, I found that I was pointing my foot and toes–not ankling through the pedal stroke, not putting heel into it. When I released, I got a fabulous shooting pain in the toes of both feet–I would compare it to circulation being restored after freezing. The culprit had to be the downward toe pointing, which is really just an extreme form of the other problem. This helped confirm that we (you) are on the right track with “curing” toe numbness. Now, partner, we need a product. No we don’t want to call it a Morton’s Extension. That is not sexy. How about the “Toe Pillow”, “NumbAway”, “Numbnots”. You can put your name on it. “rroofies Numbnots.” Some self adhesive on the bottom, goes under your existing inserts, or maybe two pieces of Velcro.

Your Partner,

Well, since triathletes will buy just about anything and about anyone can be a so called expert, why not!?

Anyway, the Morton’s extension trick has been around for a LONG time in biomechanics.

My product: Obviously, it would be made of carbon fiber since everything else is (including the bottoms of most new tri cycling shoes). It must not weigh more than about 10g and it has to be expensive (or it won’t work for sure). And since a triathlete/doc invented it - even better! Maybe I’ll call Emilio DeSoto to market it - he is the man here with customer service to boot! Now about those name choices …
