possible methane burps from bacteria. This would be amazing.

Assuming there is life there, I think this will be much like the discovery of water there, it’s going to take a number of years with data from various sources before most reasonable people are convinced. Just the first salvo, but pretty damn interesting.
Awesome.
Interesting, yes. But given that there was once water on Mars one would think that life of some sort would also exist.

Of course it’s far too early to get excited but ive got high hopes that it happens in my lifetime. Im also curious what effect this would have on abrahamic religions. It will be interesting to see who rejects it, who accepts it, and who tries to shoehorn it into their religion and “realize” it was in there all along.

Farts?
Texas schools will not allow the findings in the classroom!

Farts?
Yup! Most farts are from bacteria.
Sadly, these gasses are most likely non-biological. This is why we need humans there searching instead of the rovers. Humans could see more in 10 minutes than the robots do in years.

Can we fix some things on Earth before we send humans to check farts on Mars?
Pretty cool. I know one of the guys who “drives” Curiosity and he hasn’t replied to my email in a few days, this could by why.
Interesting, yes. But given that there was once water on Mars one would think that life of some sort would also exist.
Not necessarily. It took nearly 3 quarters of a billion years from the formation of liquid surface water until the first single cell creatures evolved on Earth. Also consider that the entirety of mammals have only been around for the 200 million years. It’s a significant span of time.
Given that, this link is relevant.

It sounds like someones getting there hopes up for plant life so they have another source of food once they eat everything here!

I doubt it. Too many anti-science losers standing in the way.

I hope we don’t waste a few hundred billion dollars on such an excursion.

Mmmmm Martian delicacy! Caviar is for the poor folks, the real elite snack on alien plants.

Won’t be that much but regardless, it’s not wasted any more than money was wasted on exploring the earth 600 years ago. It’s likely the future for our species

Does it strike you as odd that you often seem to be the one who injects religion into these discussions, and not actual religious people?

Nah. The government would rather spend that money on more important issues, such as war and pay raises. Who needs technological advancement in this day and age?

I didn’t inject religion into anything. I brought up a question about religions response. It’s an interesting question. It wasn’t bashing anything, it’s curiosity about something that would impact the beliefs of most of the world. Why wouldn’t you wonder about it?
I’m not sure, space missions are great for distracting people from what’s going on back on earth.
