Am I missing something, or is the silence deafening? Where is all of the blather about his win being a product of the air bubbles in his forks and seat stays?
Well, hopefully everyone was outside, playing.
IMO, it was incredible race. Two great races back to back!!!
He looked way stronger than everyone else out there. Almost all of the splits in the last hour were a result of Tornado Tom getting on the front and hurting everyone. On the cobbles comparing him and Pozzato was wild. He looked so smooth and fast. Obviously was by how much time he put into everyone else in the last 10km.
One of the most exciting races I’ve watched in a while and I only got to watch the last hour.
It was pretty incredible watching him squeak by Fletcha’s crash. It didn’t look like that they were going super fast, - and when Boonen slipped through, even slower. But, Fletcha must’ve been really surprised as he seemed to get up slow. That crash was the decider as it appeared as though Pozzato hesitated afterwards, too. I loved how Boonen crosses the line with his glasses all bent-up…
The crash there and Thor’s later on as well. It was tactically a perfect race by Boonen. He put in the digs to shatter his competitors to whittle the group down as needed. All of his attacks were on the cobbles. The stuff is amazingly bumpy and slippery and he makes it look easy. I’m still shocked how fast they ride and even corner on that. Boonen knew he had a gap after the wreck and most hesitated and he drove the nail in the coffin at the perfect time by taking off. Truly brilliant on his part. Sucks for the other guys, but that was just good racing on his part. Good to see him come back after last year too and all the speculation that he was done. He does lately seem to be losing it a bit in the sprints but has moved on to more of a classics guy and less of a sprinter.

impossible to produce a great technical product if you also make casual lifestyle bikes, BMX bikes, or (GASP!) soft goods.
His win was because of his tyres of course. If they are hard to find, cost a fortune, and/or shrouded in secrecy, they are the answer. Too bad they don’t make clinchers and latex tubes, his margin would have been larger.
thanks for the spoiler. Couldn’t you have changed the subject after others pointed out your error. Easter Sunday travel made it impossible to watch the whole thing late last night. It’s been less than 24 hours since it ended, unless you’ve come back from the future.
wish I could go back 5 min to the past and skip slowtwitch today. most understand the rules.
Good one!! Yeah, - it wasn’t cause he was bad-ass or anything!!
After a race like that, it’s hard not to want more; a little frustrated with the VS, 1 minute of coverage for every 10 minutes of commercials. But, I guess that we’re lucky we got anything at all in the USA.
Is there a time limit on Spoilers? If so please don’t discuss if Mark Allen is able to run down Dave Scott in the Ironman, I watched most of it on my 8 track, but I was planning on catching the rest of it next year when it gets cold. Oh and please don’t mention if the punch in the kidney took Eddy out of contention in the Tour, I haven’t watched that one either. thanks in advance. Get over it guys
Sorry again; just found out that I can change the subject line. Should’ve done that: (in other forums that I frequent, one is not able to do it, or, at least as easily).
That coked up moron did it again. Ruined cycling in one day. What happened to the sportmanship in cycling? There is an historic honor code of not taking advantage of an accident to attack. I guess that is all gone from the sport now.
I may be mistaken - I have always had the impression that the honor code about accidents applies to the leaders of a stage race and does not apply in a one day race. David K (Great race - I avoided the net all day and watched it “live” on Versus.)

2/10
This is Paris Roubaix, a little tiff in a hot corner is not a real crash as these things go. Boonen was by far the strongest rider, crash or no crash, when it was down to the final six the only way he could have lost was by a mechanical. Maybe, just maybe, Thor could have given him a run in the velodrome, but that is a big if. I think it was a classy ride. Did Pozzatto take advantage of the crash when he chased Tom?, what about Hushovd when he did not wait for the others (and then crashed himself).
Considering Boonen was a marked man and he caused the splits himself (the team did not ride as well as Flanders) and he still won easily shows how great a win this was. Hoste/Flecha blaming the crash, what horseshit, there is no way they would have had any chance on the track against Tom.
