Rotorcranks and Bjorn at Disney

Bjorn is .4 mph slower this year than last. Lessing faster, Lovato just about the same. Perhaps the rotorcranks arent so peformance enhancing afterall?

That’s not that linear…

Using that logic, I’d have to argue the P3C is slower than the P3.

Not that I would use that kind of logic, but if I did…

I have conducted a Bayesian analysis on measuring the increase in speed with reduction in power and endurance sapping energy from using Rotor Cranks, however once you factor in Wind Speed, Temperature, Barometric Pressure, Humidity, Weight, Wheels used, crank length, coefficient of rolling resistance, coefficient of drag, frontal area, as well as nutritional intake, drafting, terrain, altitude, energy exerted on the swim, wattage, weight, position of the sun, UV index, number of times one goes to the bathroom, number of hours of sleep the night before, 0.4mph is within the range of statistical error.

I took all of those factors into consideration before making my observation. All of said factors were more favorable than last year. Bet if he rode 28 you all would be singing to high heaven the praises of rotorcranks.

he also might have just gone out a little easier to save his legs for the run.

Bjorn himself stated that he got a “late” start on the season. Don’t you think that less training alone could explain a slightly slower split, with or without Rotorcranks. I’m not saying that Rotorcranks will make you slower or faster, but it is pretty well proven that less training=less performance

this RC thing was finally forgotten and you brought it up again (gary might thank you)

My take: I dont have one, I dont plan on buy one, but I believe they do work just a bit, not as much as they claim… Too expensive for a improvment of that importance. I would ride one though if someone give me them as a x-mas present, gift, sponsor, whatever…

also, get those 600 or whatever they cost, and hire a coach (will people blame me if I reccomend Marc becker?) for some months…you will not only improve you bike, but also, Swim, run, etc etc…BUT if you are cleaning your arse with 100 dolars bill, don´t get one pair of them, but two (and write down my address)

vinnie

I forgot that I also included the thermoconductive properties of carbon versus aluminum as well as the tensile strength and rotational torque of the carbon versus aluminum frame. I also factored in a vector analysis of his new bike position, and factored in the position of the earth in relation to the sun and moon in a calculating a more precise gravitational coefficient.

That is what I would like to believe. Unfortunately he ran 9 minutes slower this year.

I think, late start to the season is probably the best answer.

That and 2004 Florida 1/2 was a REALLY good race for Bjorn.

That was pretty funny…and…yep I ride RC’s on both my TT bikes.

I hope you dont think you are a scientist with some of the obviious things you left out. For one the tire pressure change due to the tempeture change throughoiut the day, weither he used the same amoun of body glide, if he used purified water vs. spring water. It also could just be that last year he stayed at a holiday inn express and this year he didnt

I ride the Rotor Cranks and can’t beleive people call them “performance enhancing”. if they fit your pedaling style then you’ll be faster, if not, they won’t help all that much. they seem to fit my style and I’m faster at a slightly lower HR then with regular cranks.

I don’t think that, comparing two races 1 year apart can give a valuable information about any piece of equipment…

He’s slower this year because there are hundreds of people out there that think they know what’s “wrong” with him and want to “help”… it gets confusing after a while…

Gotta agree with you there asscoach… just because someone’s technique is unconventional doesn’t always mean it’s “wrong”…

David Zabriske won the Giro TT on a P3SL while Ivan Basso looked to be riding a P3c and finished second. It is possible that those two bikes have indistinguishable performance. The P3 is an amazing machine.

ay-men to that. it’s always struck me as kind of silly that just because he likes to push big gears that so many people have this urge to “fix” his style. get over it…

It also could just be that last year he stayed at a holiday inn express and this year he didnt

I think you just nailed it, amigo…

I thought you were gonna email him a new race plan… What happened?
