RotorCranks and a Cannondale?Input

I am looking at putting a set of rotorcranks on my 2005 Cannondale IM 6000?

Anyone able to help me? The folks at Cannondale didn;t get back to me today unfortunately. They are the hollogram SI integrated carbon crank that comes standard on that ride.

Tom D or anyone else that can help - I appreciate your input.

Remove the stock crank/bottom bracket and install the RCs per the instructions.

The Hollowgram SI BB is specific to cannondale so a Rotor crank won’t fit.

thanks - so you see no difficulty?

Do I need to buy a new BB or is everything that I need included with the R/C’s?

Should take about 1 hour to install the new crankset. Will work like a dream!

Hi Andrew,

The integrated bottom bracket and all hardware is included with the system.

If your Cannondale can accept a Shimano compatible bottom bracket and crankset, then Rotor Cranks will fit as well.

The only question is whether or not your bottom bracket shell is oversized and can only accept Cannondale cranks.

The SI bottom bracket on the Cannondale is oversized and specific to Cannondale. In will NOT accept a standard (English or Italian) threaded bottom bracket.

Here is the pdf file that shows the bottom bracket. It is for the mountain bike version of the SI bb but it assembles the same as the road bike version. Notice that it is a press-in bottom bracket.

Clearly the RotorCrank bb won’t fit in this frame.

I was not sure if the bottom bracket shell was oversized to fit the SI cranks. I wonder if there is an insert to convert the BB shell to accept english thread standard bottom brackets? Very esoteric.

I am not aware of an insert to convert the BB shell. The SI bb is a great design but it only works with their frame and their cranks.

I’ll keep digging with Cannondale - this is limiting to say the least.

I’ll shoot you off another email when I hear back from Cannondale - can still work something out for you on the other too!

Will be in touch early next week.

Thanks Andrew, I have another option for you if they do not fit.

Are your chainrings 130mm BCD spacing? (can your cranks accept Shimano chainrings?)

I am not sure - I can find out for you - the chain rings are not Campy - they are cannondale stamped.

Interested to see what other option you can come up with.

Yes the chainrings are 130mm BCD.

If the chainrings are 130mm BCD then maybe you should go with the eliptical chainrings or wait for the yet to be released “Q” chainrings from Rotor.

Sorry, won’t fit, the IM 6000 is an awesome frame but you can’t change the cranks. There is no question here unless you have someone machine you a custom sleeve to bring the BB shell diameter down to standard.
