My P3 carbon just came in (I got very lucky) and I’m deciding between the Rotor RS4 or Stronglight Pulsion cranks?
Also, I got the Hed bars instead of the VisionTech…good choice?
Thanks for your input.

rotor
.
rotor.
My experience with them was short (1.5hrs) but will give you more feedback after the weekend. Rode a rolling ride with the cranks last night before a mechanical. They do make a difference particularly on hills/rollers, basically at the same speed the hrt was lower. Unfortunately did not get a chance to test them on a longer hill. Not a valid test, not even good anecdotal evidence as the ride was too short, but I am keeping them. On the flats I hardly noticed they were different but definitely helped on the rollers and small hills.
weird choice. the rotors are not ‘regular’ cranks, but the stronglights are. the stronglights look the best for sure.
I’ve been on Rotors for over 6 months and will never (and thats a long time) ride regular cranks again. They are much faster and I have the race times to prove it. Moving from 4th or 5th in my age group on the bike leg to 1st by 1:30 over only 11.5 miles. I had the 8th fastest bike split of the day out of 500 competitors, not bad for a 50 year old. We’ll see what happens this weekend at the second triathlon on the Rotors. Same course! The last race had the return into a heavy wind. I think thats were the Rotors (kind of like a climb) came in handy. I’m hoping for a southerly wind on Saturday morning!! : )
Buy the Rotors!!
Rotors will help your form, from what I hear. Otherwise, my two cents are:
Nothing else will work quite as well. Well, it’s not as big of a deal with 9-speed, but all my experience with 10-speed has shown that keeping the drivetrain “pure” is the best way to ensure your drivetrain stays healthy and happy.
Do you use Rotor? I like your website!
Clarence,
glad you took the time to see the website and that you liked it.
I have Rotor Cranks on my Mountain, Road and Tri bikes. I had a bottom bracket based power meter and switched to a chain tension one so I would be able to use, at the same time:
Rotor
Disc
Power meter
I find the gain of those 3 combines to be huge. If you are interested in Rotors, PM me and I can get you set up.
Ciao,
Thanks Felipe. I think you (along with other poster here) may have convinced me to go with the Rotors. Why do you think more pros don’t use the Rotors?
Let me know if you ever need anything in Chicago!
Felipe, what type of power meter are you using with your RC’s?
Dave
Wow, that thread came back from the dead.
Anyway. When I had the Rotors, I had the POlar power meter as I also wanted to run a disc in the back.
I am now on the Ergomo Pro - really great device!
Ciao,
Felipe, I did a search before posting a question. :o)
So, do you no longer use rotor cranks?
Dave
