This will be my first HIM, and first time in Sonoma. I did get some heat training in over the past 6 weeks or so, so hopefully I won’t completely melt on the run. Also will trying out the DeSoto Skin Cooler Jersey - Let’s hope it works as well as everyone says it will! Will also be doing the camping option w/ friends…
Russian River water temp has been droppin slowly over the past week! (shit!)
Ready and waiting here. Looking forward to getting going. Don’t care about water temp as I’ve got lots of options…70-74deg, T1 and speedtube, 74 - wetsuit legal cutoff, just the speedtube, non-wetsuit legal, no problem, just swim. Anxious to see what kind of pace I can hold on the bike and see if I can run/jog/shuffle through the run. I also wouldn’t mind a bit if we got a nice 85deg day max, but if it’s hot, so be it. I just want to go.
Let’s do this thing. Cant wait to get up there and camp and enjoy my first time at the race.
Gonna be interesting to see how much fitness I have lost over the past few weeks and should be just the kick in the ass I need to rev up my training for Florida.
B/w moving and changing jobs the past weeks have been a nightmare and totally obliterated my training schedule. I’ve gotten in my regular workouts this week and have noticed a severe drop in speed and overall fitness level.
I’m in and ready to race since I haven’t raced in 7 weeks. Last race before IMC, so hoping to do well and give me a confidence boost going into my first IM.
I was aiming for a nice PR and a pretty good time goal, but since I’ve been having problems with my foot and didn’t run for two weeks, now I just want to lay down a good race.
I am in as well. My first ever tri was the old Vineman Oly distance race in the early 90’s. The bike course goes nearly right by my house so nice to sleep in my own bed and my wife just drops me off at T1. Sometimes I think racing on same course I train on so much is kinda boring but it is a quality race and a nice venue.
Good luck to all and enjoy your visit to SoCo. Let me know if you have any questions about the area as I have lived here virtually my whole life.
