So aside from Jkallen and myself, wantstoridefast, and possibly Mr Jim, plus Tom D if we can get him out of the shop for an hour who else are we going to meet there ?
Bryce,
Likely 17 plus other regulars who are doing the PATT series this year.
The Allen Park Criterium is Saturday the 18th as well so probably at least 5 of the “racers” will be at the criterium rather than at the PATT. Those 5 would kick the numbers up to 22 plus.
As the weather warms up the number of participants usually grows. There is also the word of mouth factor that gets going.
It sounded like SuperDave may have been out riding a fixie on the Saddlemen’s Monday night Club ride out of Nankin Mills Nature Center. He may have been training to try and kick your butt at the PATT! I haven’t seen him at any of our PATTs over the last couple years but he is a close friend of Tom D’s and a regular poster here on SlowTwitch. He may just relish the opportunity to meet you and Julian and doesn’t wish to embarrass himself by finishing second. He’s a regular racer at the Velodrome at Bloomer Park.
It sounds like Tom D will give you some competition. He turned in a 22 and change last month with something (brakes?) dragging. He claims he was taking it easy on the way out and only kicked it up on the way back. We will find out this Saturday just who is who and who is bluster. You may be good, but we will try and find some competition to challenge you to a best effort.
Oh Yeah, SuperDAve will kick some ass if he turns out. I had the pleasure to meet Dvae last visit and have to say he is a super nice guy (and from Tom’s comments) super fast guy too!
Ok, Depending on how work and kids go this week, the plan would be to Ride down there and meet you all. No Im not doing the TT.
If I left the house at 8 I should get there about 9:30 Which means I will be riding in with some of the pack. I’ll stay way to the right so you can all blow by me.
No Promises, but look for the big guy on the kona.
I’m out of comptetition effective this past thursday. I slipped on some rain soaked tracks near home, and now have a cast on my hand preventing me from riding out doors for the next 6 weeks. Sucks big time…Have a good time.
Sorry to hear that, Jack. Hope the healing process goes well.

Jack,
How could you do that? You are right, that definitely sucks BIG TIME!!! Sounds like you need to practice bunny hopping.
What would happen if you drilled a hole in your cast just below the wrist so you could slip your aerobar up through it from just below the wrist to out through the opening for your fingers? Who cares if it gets set right or heals good as before the break! Its the PATT, Jack! The International PATT, Jack! This is the first of these that I am aware of.
You ought to come by just to say hello to Julian and Bryce. And to show off your new plaster artwork.
Unfortunately, I am still pretty sick but on the mend. I have been taking a veriety of pills and don’t have a temperature anymore, but haven’t been on a bike in 9 days- today 10.
Look for Superdave to go very low 21’s, maybe sub 21 easy. He is flying.
You maybe sick but you haven’t had a drill and hot oil squirter suck and vaccuum pieces of silicone ear plug pieces stuck to your ear drum, now have you, Tom, and then ridden for 55 miles right after that? I know its dinner time for some of you, so I will spare you the details.
I feel like a new man. I can hear now.
Well bunny hopping them is impossible - this is the motor city, there are literally five sets of tracks that converge at this intersection. They are actually quite flush to the road, and can be taken at high speed with very little jarring. The problem is that I was making a left turn to cross them from a sidestreet that runs just parallel to the tracks. Unbeknownst to me until I got up close and personal with them is that the first set of tracks has a rubber surface around them, rather than the typical wood. I can assure you that this surface is equivalent to ice when crossing at a slight angle on skinny bike tires, when wet. Too bad I wasn’t aware of this two days ago.
Okay, I’m done typing for awhile, as this has taken me half an hour to do alone. Have a good time. Don’t let those Brits leave without an appreciation for cyclists in the good ol US of A.
Jack
I hope to be able to make it out. I’ve been racing quite a bit and hope my fitness holds up. I’ve got the district kilo/Elite National Qualifier wrapped up today, tomorrow is the pursuit and flying 200M and sprint heats. Motorpace Tuesday, Wednesday I’ve got another 3 events at the track, Thursday is a circut race in Canada, Friday Night I hope to hit Indy’s Major Taylor velodrome after visiting Chris Wiggin’s A1 Cyclery in Indy and picking up some new Zipp wheels at Zipp HQ, Saturday’s PATT in the morning followed by the 90 minute crit down the road in Allen Park, and perhaps a stint indoors at the London 'drome that night, then Sunday there is the district Keirin, Points Race and Scratch Race back at the Velodrome at Bloomer Park.
Busy week, if I can recover from each’s days race (and drive) I should make it out Saturday morning, otherwise I’ll drop in for hellos prior to the Allen Park race, about 7 miles from Tom’s shop.

Wow thats hardcore !!! Sorry to hear about jackattacks injury. One of our tt national champions ‘modified’ his cast 2 years ago so he could race. He cut his plaster down and redesigned one of the arm pad rests. Now thats hardcore. Under great pressure from the rest of you to save my butt being handed to me I PB’d last saturday over a 10. My coach wants me just to test my set up but here’s hoping I find some more speed before this weekend in case Superdave brings his motorpaced butt down…
Looking forward to it guys, should be fun.
Glad to hear you are taking it easy, Dave!!! Be good to catch up with you Saturday, love your new Felt track bike, that needs a black bell aero helmet like Basso’sto do it justice. Very Cool.
