Just checking to see how many ST’ers will be in NH this weekend for the Mooseman Tri’s. K. Jordan puts on some good races so I am looking forward to this one. Water may be a little chilly though, last I heard it was 57.
Yeah, but 57 and CLIMBING!
I’m doing the 1/2, and even though I’m a couple hundred miles away I almost consider this my “home course” as I did all three runnings of Granite Ledges. It’s the same course, just with a couple of minor extensions to bring it up to 70.3, and it’s a beauty. Even more so than Timberman, I consider it the quintessential New England course - more bucolic than T-man, and the mostly-hugging-the-shoreline run is glorious. The view of the White Mountains from the swim start at T-man, however, can’t be beat.
A high pressure system is cruising towards N.H. even as I type and is slated to arrive thursday, so the weekend ought to be great. See you there!
Steve Bradley (55-59; are race numbers posted at Lin-mark yet?)
The numbers are up, you’re number 106 and I am 5354. Looking at this as a good time/tune-up. Doing ImCDA this year.
Track me down Saturday morning, as I’ll be there doing body-marking. I’m 6’3" tall, and will be wearing some piece of Granite Ledges apparel (rose hooded sweatshirt, or grey or red fleece) and either a Timberman cap or a BRIGHT yellow Tri-Speed cap (think of the color of your urine after you’ve run for 2 hours without water on a 92-degree day and 98% humidity…).
I look forward to meeting you. Train safely the next few days, enjoy the taper!
I’m in. Doing the half, but will be cheering a bunch of friends in the quarter (best man at my wedding is in the first-timers’ wave!). I’ll try to remember to wear the Peaceful Tribe gear.
Good luck all.
Chris
I’ll be doing the half - hopefully the three week weather-induced taper will not make it a long day… though the forecast is for 80’s
Woody
I’ll be there doing the Half as well. I’m really looking forward to it. All of the training has gone well, and if I’m not a popsicle after finishing the swim, I think I’m on target for a good ride and run. Good, by my standards that is!
I’ll be riding a Felt S22 (orange). I’ll probably run in my Timberman cap. I’m about 5’9" (girl). Will probably be sporting a Capital District Tri Club top.
I’m doing the 1/4. Actually, I guess it is now only a 5/21 ironman (roughly) as they shortened the run to 10k and the bike to 27.5 m or so. Actually, maybe I won’t do it as for me, it is all about the final .3 miles on the run.
Now, if they would only shorten the swim, as it will be my first openwater race. My plan is to jump and and start throwing punches around right at the start so nobody knows I’m a rookie. Given the water temperatures (55 degrees, but climbing) ), I’m pretty psyched it is my first one since, given that “cold” is a relative term, I can say “Don’t be a wuss, this is the warmest water I’ve ever raced in.”
I just hope my snorkel doesn’t freeze shut.
I will be there working at the expo, racing the 1/4 and volunteering at the half. Really excited about everything including the clean & cold water. (It makes for a good war story) Should be a fun weekend…can’t wait.
Looking forward to the 1/2 on Sunday (and hopefully a shortened swim!)
