Rolf vs. Mavic Carbones

I’m debating on which set of wheels I should use at IMCDA… I have a set of Rolf Vector Pro, which as I understand are “good” with respect to the aero package and lighter than my Mavic Cosmic Carbones. However, despite the fact that my Carbones are heavier than the Rolf’s, they are most likely more aero . So, what would you more experienced riders choose. Lighter and “good” aero or heavier with “better” aero?

Cosmic Carbones vs. Rolf Vector Pro’s?

Thanks for any input/advice.

Stay aero. It’s better to sacrifice a bit of weight in favor of aerodynamics. Weight is actually relatively insignificant unless climbing near vertical hills, and even then it may not be so wise to sacrifice aerodynmics.

Here’s is a good article about his very point on an uphill TT from Craig Willet’s site:

Great! Thanks for the source… I looked it over and though I’m not concerned about seconds in my frist IM next week, I do see the overall logic as it ties into the science . I may be giving a touch on the larger pair of climbs , but overall I’ll be saving time with a more aero package.

Just wondering… Anyone know the aero difference between Rolf Vector Pro’s vs. Mavic Cosmic Carbones over say a flat 40K TT . My assumption is that the Carbones are more aero.

The exact info you want is on Kraig Willet’s site, but that article is on the pay site part. I’ve subscribed previously to the site. It’s one of the best aero info sources out there and worth the $ IMO.
