ROKA wetsuit review (1)

Thanks…I appreciate that. The problem(s) with my old 2XU E:2 is that I had to hike it way up just to ensure enough room in the shoulders. In doing so, it really didn’t ensure enough room to breathe and my shoulders/arms got sore about halfway through the swim. Granted, I’m not that fast to begin with, but when I can constantly swim ‘1.0x’ speed in the pool, but swim ‘0.75x’ in open water, something is wrong. I chalk it up to a wetsuit that is much too tight and restrictive. I’m not purchasing this wetsuit to gain speed, rather I’m purchasing it because of the price, customer service I received, and the reviews I read on here. Michael has been very good at addressing my concerns and answering my questions. I don’t have a problem supporting a small start up company with good reviews and, from what I have heard, good response from the professional community (granted, I do take that for what it is worth).

*I just weighed myself after a short run and came in at 149.X, so I know I am where I should be as far as weight is concerned. I never really thought a small tall would be too tall. Currently, my medium 2XU wetsuit says 5’7’ - 6’0" and I really have to yank that thing up to utilize the height there. Even then, it feels too short.

Did you get the new Roka wetsuit in the mail yet? And have you swam in it? What are you thoughts?

I received it last week. Size felt perfect. Hopped in to the lake and it started leaking from the back of my neck immediately. Swam for 30 minutes and it continued to fill around my back and arms. Asked what I could do and was told to tighten my neck line. I did that a couple days later and same thing happened. I was also told I could use my tri-top and that could prevent it a bit more. Swam yesterday with my tri-top and still leaked. My current wet-suit still leaks a little, but not as bad as the Maverick. Not sure about the cause. I’ll continue to use my old one, but will look in to Roka when this particular issue is resolved. The CS was great and very helpful. I would definitely consider them in the future.

Hi TriZag,

I’m the one you communicated with and wanted to respond to you publicly here as well. We are constantly improving and developing our products and are committed to leading the wetsuit category in performance. We have had a small number of body types with this neck leakage issue and have made a small design adjustment to the neck pattern to address it so that we can hopefully get a tight seal on everyone moving forward. Your kind words and continued support mean a lot to us, and we look forward to having you try the new pattern this fall!

Best,
Michael

Hi krez,

If you are getting leakage at the wrists, it sounds like we might have gotten you set up in the wrong size. Can you confirm with us your suit size and height/weight at (support at rokasports dot com) and we can see if a smaller size would be better. It is typical to get some leakage at the neck when you streamline and push off the wall since you pinch your shoulder blades when you do that, but if you are getting leakage during non-pushoffs or leakage at the wrists, that sounds to me like an indicator of a suit that’s too big.

Best,
Michael
