Rockman times!

I just read the pdf you sent and it actually answers all my questions. Nice job. See you Saturday. I just hope all these fast triathletes are not going to run over my slow pitiful self on your course. Maybe I should have trained.

Thanks for the positive feedback

This is the link for anyone who would like to check it out

Gack…am I the only fat slug who is hoping to break 6 hours??? I have a bad feeling that I am going to be getting smacked, a lot…I might have to change my screen name to DFL_Spot…

Don’t worry, you won’t be alone, I’ll be getting smacked as well.

Finally the ones that are getting smacked down are speaking up. 6 hours sounds like a good goal, especially if the winds we had today are still around

Just racing. Trying to ride fast and hang on for the run.

Fucking sandbagger! Folks don’t let rockhopper1 fool you, the dude can go.

If I was racing, I would aim to rock the last 10K of the run.
Too bad I’d still outsplit you by :01 over the last 10k if I was racing. Say hello to your mom for me. crap, I wish I was going to be there even to just watch and hang out.

“Gack…am I the only fat slug who is hoping to break 6 hours???”

No, that’s my goal too. If everything goes perfectly I could see 5:40 at best, but realistically beating 6 hours will be a challenge.
This my first HIM and my training was less than stellar. Hopefully this freakin wind that blew me all over the road since I left Colorado on Wednesday morning will let up some before Sunday. I’m glad my wife ended up talking me out of camping, although when I drove through the park it didn’t seem too bad.

My son broke my tire pump and I didn’t find out until I was packing up. I’ve already supported the local LBS, Rockford Bicycle, in buying a new pump.

with how i’m feeling 5:15 is probably realistic. I’d be very happy to break 5 hours and ecstatic to go under 4:50.

I’m feeling like crap! I installed new brakes yesterday on my car and helped a friend today so i’m hurting.

My only goal is to finish the swim before 1:10… that is the cut off right?

All you fish can laugh, heck even you marginal swimmers can laugh! But I am going for ‘most improved race position’ or maybe we can call it… the ‘should be a duathlete’ award or something.

Looking forward to a great day and I just wish we could hang out after the race for the big party at Chips house, but rroof and I have to work the next day. :>(

Mark

The party is SATURDAY not SUNDAY!!! No reason that you can not make it. Post race you are all on your own.

Dyno-mite! Party the night before a race!!! This fits perfectly with my training plan.

Maybe we can get rroof drunk (~3/4 a beer should do it) … if he has a severe hangover I might get to see him at the finish before he has a chance to pack up all of my gear.

Mark

Dude,

I am planning on riding as fast as I can and hang on for the run. I did not say that it will be slow, just fast on the bike at least. I’ll still be 6 minutes down in the water.

Too bad you cannot make it. Hope all is well.

Paul

Hey man, at least you have an excuse! I’m just going nuts trying to rest up and control the hunger- I ate half a loaf of garlic bread with last night’s spaghetti.

Time? who knows- better than last year…

You got a time machine or something? How can you do better then last year at this race?

You know how you can theoretically go back in time if you go fast enough? I’ll go slow enough to go FORWARD in time…

Seriously, I plan on kicking my own ass from the HIM I did last September. I’m pretty sure I can take at least 30 min off, but we’ll see where it all falls at the end of the day.

LOL!

Looking forward to seeing you guys again Sat and Sun. Mark and I are driving up tom AM. Bummer is that I wrecked last night going about 8 mph biking with my daughter. I was fine tuning the Planet X and she crashed into me. Didn’t think much of it as I just bounced off a curb, but I have a huge knot in my calf and it hurts like hell today! I have no idea what happened as it seemed like just a “fall over” type of thing! I slept in a splint last night and I’m going to massage the crap out of it. I think I can still race, but this sucks!

I am hoping for sub 5, but I am trying to get over a sinus infection. Probably depends more on how hard the run is. It sounds tough, but it is pretty hilly were I train, so we will just have to see.

Good Luck to every one!

No worries. I haven’t done a half in two years. My bike training leaves much to be desired. Finish happy under 6 is my goal.

Dang - keep that thing moving so you can go this weekend.
