I am bored at home thinking about this weekend. I’d love to be riding or something but I guess I should save some for sunday, right?
I was also wondering how fast are people going to go. What do you guys think will be the winner’s time? I don’t think anyone will break 4h 10’;and I won’t be close to that at all. Hopefully I’ll break five hours! The course is not very hard but the wind could be brutal. Besides,I was in better shape in february than I am now: in the last month I have gained about 5lbs (sympathy pregnancy I guess)!!!
Good luck everybody

I think that there will be a few folks here that could go under 4:10 if they are pushed…and dont kid yourself. The course is quite hard once you hit the run. Free Church southbound is going to cook a few folks and the first two miles of the run may finish the toasting…we will see what the run brings.
My goal is 5:30. This is my 23rd tri but first half-iron. Of course, with my wife pregnant 32 weeks with twins, I may be at a hospital with her on Sunday and not racing!
the predicted heat has already done me in. i look forward to a nice swim and hopefully a fast bike, but the run is going to be a slow plod.
I hope to break 5 hours, The swim and bike should go good, but this is my first race since a major injury this past winter. It could get ugly in a hurry on the run if my ankles don’t hold up.
hot, windy, hilly run, where have a heard this before? cant wait!
The run is mostly in the shade and VERY protected from the wind. Can say so much for the bike.
It should be fun - no time predictions here.
If I was racing, I would aim to rock the last 10K of the run.
Just racing. Trying to ride fast and hang on for the run.
If I don’t flat I’ll be between 4-5 hours.

Ditto here. Been hammering the bike pretty good the last few weeks, so legs are not fully rested, but this will be fun race to see what happens! Could go really well, or all end in tears.
Yup. This is right in the middle of one of the build phases, so the race will be coming off a 6 hour ride on Saturday
Packet pickup anyone for Chicagoans? the website says there might be a location in Chicago but I have not seen an update since then.
Can I assume this is a no go? Thread Jack.
I am pretty sure that it is a no go. I am driving up Sunday morning.
Under 40 in the swim will be a slam dunk
Hopefully under 3:00 for the bike
If I’m not toasted, under 2:00 for the run
If I break 5:30, that’s cool, 5:15 would be a good day for me (p.r. is 4:57)
I’m sandbagging all of those times, but my level of fitness is nowhere near the past two years at the moment, so the degree of my sandbagging is a complete mystery, even to me. It’s more of a training day for me, in a sick sort of way. I just picked up some 808’s for the weekend and I’m really psyched to try them out on Sunday.

I have no ability to get timing chips in the bags - period. The timing guy is also providing the race numbers and had to FedEx them to me…I did not see a value in a remote pickup if you had to re-check in at the race site. Sorry about that, I tried to make it happen but I dont control the ChampionChips.
Do we have to check in our bikes on Saturday or can we just show up with them Sunday morning? Packet pick up is Saturday at the race site?
I’m driving down and bringing lots of change for the dreaded Illinoya tolls.
Would prefer bikes be here Sat…but if not…what it is it is…
There is only one toll for you from Wi.
I’m going to have to stop at the outlet malls on the way back before I cross the border to load up on slightly mishandled merchandise.
We are not that far…we are a mere 5 miles from the Cheddar Curtain…no where near the Outlet that is another 40 miles down I90. The bike course is actually about 400 yards from the WI line.
