I just read that someone bought a pair of Rocket7 shoes through Chronometro. I have also purchased these shoes, 2 pair. My wife and I thought we would splurge a bit and get the gourmet shoes. We have been unsuccessful in getting a good fit.
My wife sent hers back to be modified. They came back even worse. Since then, our Rocket7’s are somewhere buried at the county dump. I am curious if anyone else has had the same problem. My Sidi’s are not quite as light, but feel like they are a custom fit.
I’d like to try these but they are just too $$$$$$$$ for me. Also, my buddy Bill Rehor of Shimano keeps me in Shimano shoes which are just fine for me. I have used Sidi’s also and they are great. I am not very fussy about shoes.
SuperDAve uses Rocket 7’s and has great things to say about them. I would love to have a pair of custom LUST tri shoes.
I purchased a pair of Rocket 7 Tri’s just before IMOO. I fitted them myself using the fiberglass cast sock. I used them for the first time at IMOO because of a foot neuroma caused by wearing too narrow of shoes for years. It turns out I have a 4E foot. The fit was perfect. I even ended up riding the last 40mi without socks in the BRAND NEW 7s without any cuts or blisters. I had accidently worn thicker socks than I had cast in ,since I was planning on wearing my Carnacs. I can’t recommend these shoes enough. I just wish I had shell out the $ for these instead of the $$ for different pedals & shoes trying to fix the foot pain! Maybye I also wouldn’t be inside today with a pin in my foot instead of outside riding!
I ordered some Rocket 7’s as well, they feel fine for the first 2,3 hours but then after that I get severe hot spots (worse than what I had with my sidis). I didn’t get to use 'em much last year (they took a long time to get made) but we’ll see where they go this year. I wanted to have them modified since I got orthotics but your story scares me…
I really don’t get it. I have an incredible fit in asics 4E shoes, why can’t they just make cycling shoes in the same last/size? Meanwhile I tried on some Nike “wides” when some Nike group came to our workout … what a joke, they were at least 1cm narrower than my asics… and floppy…
I bought a pair of Rocket 7’s. The superstock (custom footbed in standard shoe) Rocket 7 was great to deal with, very professional.
The bottom line is after riding them for six months I am back on my Carnacs with “superfeet inserts” and oh so happy. I just didn’t find the Rockets comfortable, and after spending that kind of $$$$ i really wanted to like them. I didn’t.
