Road Trip suggestions

I’m going on a road trip next week that will start in Denver, probably u-turn in San Diego. Any suggestions for places along to go along the way?

Yosemite

Are you going directly to SD then back? If not, try meandering around the country.

When I was a kid we drove from KY to CA to live in Mountain View for a year. We hit every interesting place we could think of, including Pikes Peak. We then went to Yellowstone, down through Utah and swam in the Great Salt Lake (stings). I think we made a quick stop in Tahoe and then to our destination. Visited Yosemite a few times while living in CA.

My sister and I flew back after that year but the folks drove the “southern route”. Notable places they visited were the Grand Canyon and Petrified Forest.

We were the Griswalds before the movie was made.

Yosemite.
Car-Henge (in Nebraska - cars positioned like the big stones at Stonehenge)
Mesa verde (in SW colorado, maybe you’ve already been there)
Tahoe, beautiful in any season
Utah’s Great Salt Lake - smells bad but the salt flats are amazing. My eyes told me it was snow, but every other sense screamed NOOO!
Vegas just to say you’ve been there, no other reason in my opinon.

Fruita,co has some great mt biking, of course Moab has some great hikes and mt biking. If your still on the 70 hit some shaker bars in vegas.

Hoover Dam

Death Valley.

Arches Nat Park - gorgeous! If you do Grand Canyon, do the north rim if you have time - you’ll feel like you have it all to yourself. Have a blast!

Thanks for the suggestions!!

Where in Death Valley do you recommend?

The Moab area is great but I’ve already been there twice.

The Flying J in Springville Utah. Ask for Jonathan I will give you free food stuff.

I’ve actually been to that Flying J on the way to a race in Lake Havasu City.
