Road Rash–What is the topical–for pain, healing?
I know some people use different patches, but depending on how bad it is I have used Desitin. It dries out the wound and really helps me heal fast. I’m probably the only person that puts diaper rash ointment on cuts and scrapes, but hey, It works for me.
After cleaning the wounds just put Tegaderm on it and monitor it for infection. No scabs, no pulling off dried dressings, no smell. If wounds release a lot of pus need to change Tegaderm and sometimes let it dry out, scrub off scabs reapply Tegaderm, otherwise no maintenance. Nothing needed for pain if Tegaderm covering it. If very deep, see a physician, typical road rash all you need is Tegaderm.

Tegaderms where perscription only I though. I had to get a prescription to get them after my last crash.
If you use a normal bandage, use a triple anitbiotic on it and change at least twice a day.
Don’t go in open water until you get a good scab. Once you do, it is fun to watch it turn green in the lake 
Flush with saline after coming out of the open water to try and keep it clean.

Looks like he’s learning from you pretty quick. “Son, you want to mess up your body doing this stuff, otherwise it doesn’t count.”
I believe this is pretty important for kids because you don’t want him to have scar tissue. Tegaderm used properly will result in new skin. Letting it scableads to scar tissue which is much less flexible than skin. The new skin that forms will be very pink so you should be very careful to make sure sun exposure is limited even after the skin heals until it is totally healed.
Tegaderm is available in small supplies from pharmacies and in large quantities online and no prescription is necessary.
What? No scars? Scars are tattoos with better stories.
