Road bike Size (1)

Hi,

I can’t decide which size to buy (new Trek Madone series 5).
I have an inseam of about 34.6 inches (88cm)
But I only height 69.7 inches (177cm)
Because of my inseam, I should get a 58cm, but with my total height a 56cm.
At my local bike store, they say that I should get a 56cm.
I’m afraid that with a 56cm, the difference between the seat and the handlebar will be too much (height).
I already have some neck problem.
So, what do you think?
Thanks!

Top tube length is the more important measurement. Seat tube much more adjustable. …So reach more important …with stack.

My vote would be for a 56. You can get the right stem to put you out as far as you want. A 58 might be too long frame, and you may not be able to get a stem short enough. Both 56 & 58 will likely accommodate your height.

Also, since this is a Trek dealer, see if you can either get a free fitting, or better yet, a free fitting, and the ability to ride both size frames. Good luck.

There was a deal on a 56, I hope tomorrow it will still be there.

Thanks.
