I’m thinking about getting a new bike, and would appreciate any suggestions. I used to have a Specialized Allez, and a Felt F32 (sold both last summer). I want a road bike, and don’t want to spend more than $2K. I’m open to all brands.
Cervelo S1 - Best bike for that price range (and many others).

personally i would have stuck with the felt…
Check out Kestrel Talons on ebay.
If you can do the wrench work yourself, get a Tarmac frameset from eBay.
Take your time hunting down SRAM Force components and you’ll have a nice setup for less than $2k.
That’s what I just did. Even if you haven’t done much wrenching before, go for it. It’s easy to learn.
Argon18 is well-known for their TT bikes like the E-114, but they make some nice road bikes as well. I have a 2007 Gallium and love it. Check out the Krypton which i believe is in your price range.
find a decent steel frame on ebay for $100 and then put $1900 in sweet components on it
i have a vision of a slightly rusty steel frame with bling carbon and aluminum bits all over it
.
what did you dislike about your previous bikes?

I second this. I picked up a Lapierre 999 X-Lite FDJ frameset w/ Ritchey fork, and seatpost off Ebay for a song. Frame, fork and seapost are carbon. I bought Oval Concepts stem and bars, a Force groupo, more Speedplay x-2’s and other stuff on clearance. I had some Mavic Ksyrium Equipe wheels I threw on it. I am well under $2000 for one hell of a bike! The ride on this frame is unbelievable. The Force groupo I got off Ebay for like $870 including shiping. Best price I found anywhere.
Whenever I buy frames off Ebay, I always look for brand names that may not be too popular. You get better deals. Everybody will be bidding on a Trek or Cervelo, but Lapierre, K2 and other names can be easy to pick up cheap. I got a great K2 aluminum road frame with carbon seat stays and a carbon fork for $200 a few years ago. Most people never even knew that K2 made road bikes, but I had a friend who got one through his cycling team and loved it. I kept an eye out for a while and found one.

I actually didn’t dislike anything about them. I sold the roadie when i got the felt (dumb idea), and i sold the felt when I started studying for the bar exam because i wanted to get rid of distractions. wish i’d kept both.
