Looking to change my bars to an aero road drop bar on my road bike. So I know some you cant use a handlebar clamp style barfly mount but I was curious on if there are some that do allow so I can use what I have and if not what you guys are using. I have a Joule so limited to their mounts.
I used the zipp aero road bars with a garmin out front mount. It made the bars clamp slightly off center so I’m not sure I’d recommend it but I did use it for 2 years without incident.
Now using Enve aero road bars with their stem and out front mount (bolts directly to the stemp). Before I had the stem/mount for that I just attached it to the stem (which was fine with a -6 degree stem, when I was using a positive angle stem in made the screen hard to read in some positions, invisible aerobar / TT position for one).
All of this is for a garmin, I don’t know whether joule makes an insert that you can swap in place of the garmin insert on the out front mount.
I have a 3T aeronova that has a decently wide section around where the stem clamps that is still round. I can fit my garmin k edge out front mount on one side of the stem and a light on the other without problems.
I just went through this recently.
There are a few options. Some stems are skinny enough (on the bar end) that there’s plenty of room for a garmin/wahoo/joule mount.
There are also “stem bolt” or “direct mount” options that use the bolts in front of the stem to mount in front of the bars. This is the cleanest option, IMO.
Enve makes a mount, but it only works with their own stem.
Barfly makes a mount, but only works with the Fizik R1 stem, or a few 3T stem models.
Ebay has lots of these mounts that are universal. They work well but aren’t quite as clean looking as the Barfly or Enve mounts.
Lastly, there are “stem mounts” that go the length of the stem and mount by replacing one of the spacers on the head tube. These work great but again I dont think they’re as clean looking (or aero) as the direct mount stem bolt type.
I ended up buying a Fizik R1 stem ($80 online) and the Barfly direct mount 4 ($45) to fit my Wahoo Elemnt Bolt onto my Specialized S-Works Aerofly bars. Ordered yesterday so I can’t comment on how well they work, but they get great reviews.

Zipp SL-70 Aero for me, the K-Edge fits just fine to the side of the stem.

Bontrager Race Lite Aero handlebars in 42 fits a k-edge mount, however the Garmin will be just slightly off center.
