Road Bar Fit/Input & Output

I’m happy with my road bar fit vis a vis the stack, but the reach is just a tad short.

For extended hammering in the drops, I’m just a bit cramped. Quick fit at the LBS and got the standard “you need more drop”, lowered the stem 2.5mm, and sent me on my way, saying “because of the head tube angle, we actually moved the bars out quite a bit.” I left thinking he just put the BS in LBS.

Tried it on the Saturday long ride, and sure enough, it ain’t right. Some quick math a minute ago yields that dividing the HTA by 36* gives me the vertical change of adding/removing spacers, and from there I can subtract the horizontal effect. Ergo, removing a 2.5mm spacer moves the bars down 2.02mm, and forward .48mm.
(At least with a 73 HTA and 2.5mm spacer change)

My steerer tube is cut, and besides I’m maxing out my spacer stack height comfort level anyway. I have a 10cm stem and FSA Omega Shallow drop bars, with 125mm of drop and 80mm of reach.

Have searched high and low, and can’t find anyone that makes a 105mm stem. So, my options as I see them are:

1cm longer stem, keep the bars for now, possibly go to shorter reach bar later if 1cm was too much change (EG: 3T Ergonova)Go to bars with same drop and longer reach, EG: 3T Ergosum gaining 9mm of reach or Zipp gaining 4.5mm of reach

I see the first as the best option, since that gives me room to hedge if 1cm is too much, whereas the second option leaves me with either/or, and, in the case of Zipp,
is a very spendy option.

Originally I was thinking I could go to a longer stem with a positive rise, and work out the desired stack/reach that way, but I’m left with very complicated (for me) math and, as best I can figure, a really goofy stem.

What think thou, oh heralded ST brain trust?

I have/had the exact same issues with my new roadie. I ended up going with the longer stem (120mm for me) and shorter reach bars (3T ergonova - which are great). Perfect on the hoods, just a touch cramped in the drops still though. I have a dedicated crit bike that I spend 90% in the drops and use a shorter stem/longer/deeper drop combo. Road racing only in the drops maybe 40%?
