Oldest living US President. Rest In Peace.

Just sat down to the computer for the first time all day and saw that he passed on. How cool to live to 93 and to leave a permenant, positive mark on history. God Bless Pres. Ford and his family.

For a man who only served 800+ days in the WH, he certainly made a huge, healing impact on our nation. God Bless the best athlete to serve as our president. RIP President Ford

I used to know a couple of guys who played football with him. They all thought very highly of him.

Completely in character was his quiet modesty and wry self-deprecation - “I’m a Ford, not a Lincoln.” Always under-promised and over-delivered. We can all learn from him.

Great op-ed memoriam to President Ford by Mel Laird in today’s Wall Street Journal. And a great - on-topic - quote from Ford:
“the greatest defeat of all would be to live without courage, for that would hardly be living at all.”

Speaks for itself.

And, of course, a great triathlete!

From the same op-ed, I rather like his quote: “A government big enough to give you everything you want is a government big enough to take from you everything you have.”

It’s remarkable that opponents at the time, along with their fatuous fellow travelers at Saturday Night Live, derided him as a klutz and a fool. He tolerated this with a grace that evinced his great character.

He was a fine President in a tumultuous time in U.S. history. History shall remember him as the great healer.

Doesn’t this belong in the LR?
