How would a wheel like the Rolf Prima Vigor SL stack up to, say, a HED Jet 4 in a time trial type situation. Comparing the front wheels, the Rolf is 38mm vs the 45mm depth of the HED but the Rolf only has 14 spokes vs. the 18 of the HED. Both wheels have hidden nipples (that’s what she said). The HED is a little heavier which certainly isn’t a bad thing in a TT situation.
Tough call there and likely about a wash, esp on a hillier course? Niether is what a TT rider would call an “aero” front wheel though.
I currently ride the vigor sl and like them a great deal. I’ve never tried any Heds. If you compare the drag data on the Hed Jet 4 from their website to the drag data on the Vigor Sl from the Rolf website, it appears the Jet 4s have a good bit lower drag for pretty much any yaw angle. If these sources, can be trusted, I would guess the Jet 4 would be a bit (not a ton) faster unless the course is quite hilly. The Jet 6 would probably be noticably faster than either on all but the hilliest courses.
