CSC team manager Riis will not attend Tour de France
LONDON, July 5 (Reuters) - CSC team manager Bjarne Riis said on Thursday he would not attend this year’s Tour de France.
“It was an extremely difficult decision to make,” the Dane said in a statement.
“However, it is my decision and I have not been pressed to make it. I feel I do not have the strength to help my riders throughout the Tour de France.”

Riis, who ended Miguel Indurain's five-year reign in the world's greatest cycling race in 1996, admitted in May to using banned substances during his career.

He has since been erased from the Tour’s list of winners by the organisers.
Tour director Christian Prudhomme last week declined to comment when asked if the 43-year-old Dane would be welcome at the race, which starts in London on Saturday.

“However, it is my decision and I have not been pressed to make it. I feel I do not have the strength to help my riders throughout the Tour de France.”

Why doesn’t he just get a couple blasts of EPO. That should help with his strength.

Man, I do feel for these folks. The “system” really has screwed them!! Why are the racers the only ones who seemed to be getting nailed?
I would offer the real problem folks are the coaches and doctors who gave them this stuff so they could win, and then play dumb when
their riders get caught, or finally get the guilt off their chests. All this stuff is two faced to me, just like a lot of things seem to be in
our society lately.
