I noticed in the London tri that Benjamin Sanson was riding in more of a time trial position with a forward facing seatpost. I guess because of his strong swimming he ends up of the front a fair amount which is porbably why he rides this position. I think it looked like it work quite well in a small pack - a bit like team time trialling. I wonder if it will catch on among the quick swim bikers in ITU races?
Well, if you’re used to riding in a forward position it makes sense. Likewise, it may save your legs.
I ride with a forward facing seatpost on my racer during the season in order to replicate my tri position, and I use that position then for any draft legal races. However, I don’t know necessarily that it is faster (as I don’t yet do many draft-legal races), but I train in that position so racing in that position makes sense.
