Any STer’s know of some good routes in/around this area? I’ll be in town this weekend for a wedding and the wife is letting me bring the bike, any length route will do, I can adapt as needed. Just looking for some safe/scenic routes if anyone knows of any.
Thanks in advance,
Todd
Ride up Mt. Greylock. Awesome workout, you just ride uphill for ~1 hour. It is VERY steep at the beginning, but especially as you get up toward the top the views become really spectacular and it does get flatter as you approach the top.
There is a restaurant near the junction of Main St and State St. From there, ride south across the bridge, turn right on Furnace Bypass, Left on Furnace Street, then left at the fork to go up reservoir road. Keep going straight when you get to the junction of Notch Rd, which turns into greylock mtn road. Bring a windbreaker for the descent

There are so many to choose from, but one to definitely consider is the Ashuwilltocook Rail Trail which starts just south of N Adams in Adam. Or if you like hills then take Notch Road to the top of Mt Greylock or Route 2 West on the Mohawk Trail, or North on Route 8, then Route 9 to Bennington. They are all great for riding. Have fun!

I agree about Greylock, but the road is closed on both sides due to repair. You can still take the road up to the visitors center which is a decent climb w/ some views , but it ends there. A friend and I rode there in June and were bummed ( maybe ) that we couldn’t go to the top, which is a lung buster from what I hear.
But get yourself out to Williamstown , then take Rt2 up to the Petersburg Pass. From there you can go to Grafton,NY where you’ll find some long stretches of scenery and rollers. THis will take you out to the Jiminy Peak region back out to North Adams.
Lots of splendor and climbing ; )
Whoops, sorry about that! I haven’t actually been there in a while
I agree with your suggestion though, Petersburg is a nice ride.
