I got my wheel clipped during a group ride yesterday, and hit the pavement pretty hard. No broken bones, but I did lose consciousness for a few minutes. Doc at the ER said I seemed fine and discharged me, but I didn’t have the presence of mind to ask about riding.
Today I feel pretty fine, some muscle soreness, a minor headache, a little sleepy. I was thinking I’d ride the trainer just so I could bail out easily if I’m having troubles.
Those of you that have had concussions: how long did you wait to start riding again?

Thanks.
As soon as the doc cleared me. I’ve had about 3 concussions (possibly more undiagnosed), one loss of consciousness, and each time I was back to whatever activity caused it within a day or so. But, that is n=1.
You can search head injury guidelines from sports medicine or neurology - grade your concussion and follow “return to play” guidleines based on your grading.
I think its fine to spin easy for the next 2-3 days and then ride outside/hard once you feel 100% normal for anywhere from 3-7 days.
You can search “Second Impact Syndrome” if you want to know the worst case scenario with a repeat concussion too soon.
Did you have a CT scan or did they clear you clinically?
