I’ve been a runner my whole life and can usually gauge what race pace I can hit for various distances based on my training. What should/can I expect for riding? If my zone 2 rides are in the 19-20 mph what should I expect for an OLY and HIM? I’ve read Zone 3 but…I’m a runner and still holding on to pace.
Any thoughts?
Best short answer is to get a power meter. It’s difficult to equate the kind of pace your used to as a runner to cycling without power, especially at HIM distance or greater. For your Oly., try doing a 40k time trial w/ hr and see where that gets ya.
Race and see how it goes. That’s the best measurement. Nothing wrong with pacing. I definitely try to nail certain mph for flat & windless routes.
