in Texarkana, Texas is this Sunday. I signed up for it.
It’s called “The 4 States Triathlon.”
Here’s the situation. Texarkana is at the corner of Arkansas and Texas and Lousiana. Oklahoma and Mississippi are hundreds of miles away.
I have come to find out, I think, that the Texas people are counting their state as 2 states. Behold:
-
Texas
-
Louisiana
-
Arkansas.
========
= 3 States.
Right. 3 states in a Four State Triathlon. This should be called, yes, the “Three States Triathlon,” but THEY DO NOT DO THIS. It can only be because they must be counting Texas as 2 states.
I know how you Texas people are. You shouldn’t get away with this.
OK, I’ll bite. Isn’t OK only about 40 miles from Texarkana?
Texarkana, TX to Tom, Ok (which appears to be a quite a few miles into Oklahoma: Start: Depart Start on US-82 (North-West) 0.7 0:01 1: Bear LEFT (North) onto US-82 2.6 0:03 2: Keep RIGHT onto Ramp 0.1 < 1min 3: Bear RIGHT (North) onto Sowell Ln 0.1 < 1min 4: Take Ramp (LEFT) onto US-59 (US-59) 0.3 < 1min 5: Take Ramp (LEFT) onto I-30 (I-30 / Dallas) 18.3 0:19 6: At exit 201, turn RIGHT onto Ramp (TX-8 / New Boston) 0.3 < 1min 7: Turn RIGHT (North) onto SR-8 6.7 0:08 Entering Arkansas 8: Road name changes to SR-41 9.1 0:11 9: Keep STRAIGHT onto SR-32 1.9 0:03 10: Turn LEFT (West) onto SR-108 0.6 0:01 11: Keep STRAIGHT onto SR-32 0.2 0:01 12: Keep STRAIGHT onto SR-32 2.3 0:04 13: Keep STRAIGHT onto SR-32 2.7 0:04 Entering Oklahoma 14: Road name changes to SR-3 5.2 0:09 15: Turn RIGHT to stay on SR-3 0.5 0:01 End: Arrive End < 0.1 < 1min Total Route **51.4 mi ** 1 hr 6 mins
Now who should I bill for this???
You maybe right.
Let me qualify my: “hundreds of miles” to Oklahoma, to “hundreds of miles” to anywhere were life exists in Oklahoma.
Its a small sprint. Usually on these races around the country which call themselves, “Four States,” there’s a bike ride going through four states. I haven’t seen this course, but I thought the bike course would go through “Four States,” down there, like a Texan would draw this up and count it. And since its Texas people probably doing it, it would be something like: Start In Texas, go through Lousiana, up through Arkansas, back to Texas, on the bike leg.
To a Texan, that’s 4 states. Texas–>Lousiana–>Arkansas—>Texas.
See, this is how Texas people think.
Hey, I’m just kidding.
Time to go…
We are big enough to be 2 or even 3 states…maybe even 4 by some definitions.
The problem isn’t the size…but the value.
Go T-Wolves!
