anyone knows if there is a max pressure (besides that of the tire) as they are full carbon rims? most clincher wheels, that are full carbon usually have a max around 7.5bars…
110psi as a max? Sounds pretty low.
was the limit on the older corima deep rims, the thorius and some other full carbon rims…but there is no such indication on the reynolds website, so I guess, it’s all good.
It’s higher than that. 160psi, I believe. I know that’s it been posted in the reviews of the wheels. Whether or not there is truly no “bowing” at these pressures, I don’t know. But I am 99% certain they are rated to 160…
Call Reynolds to double check. I would. Anyways, even if the limit is higher, I still wouldn’t go too high- if you are descending/braking a lot, the rims heat up, which increases the tire pressure, which in turn increases the chance for a blowout. Besides, I’ve read that there are diminishing returns in terms of rolling resistance once you go over 125 psi.
I have 2 pairs of Reynolds Carbon Clinchers. I regularly pump them up 120+ psi. Never had any problems and I am 190 lbs so I tend to be a bit rough on my wheels.
Great wheels.
Quick Q. on the Stratus wheels.
Can you change from Campag to Shimano (easily) ?
JC.
Not sure. I am a total moron when it comes to building up bikes - but I assume that you can.
Sorry.
We sold a pair a while ago. I heard 140 being tossed around. I know that I’ve pumped them up to 120
Me too, that’s why I’m asking. Can get my hands on some s/h wheels at a decent price but they’re campag - I need shimano. Wondered if it was worth the hassle.
Pretty sure someone on here will know.
