my husband is trying to get me to go, but it seems like 2 miserable people…a real downer. we saw Reader, and while i like Winslet, she is “so melodramatic” that i feel Reader was enough of her for awhile.
hubby is kind of bummed that i won’t go. today we saw Mall Cop, and he was like…ok, we could have been Revolutonary Road, but…
I refuse to see it because I am tired of suburban whining. Oh boo hoo they don’t have the life then want. Oh let me cry for you. You got a job, house and family change your life if your so damn miserable.
great point tibbs! these people have so much, yet feel so miserable? i hate that!
and vickie, thanks for telling me it was in fact deeply depressing. i’m going to stand strong then, and definitely not see it in a theater. if we rent it, i can leave the room!
You **do **realize that that is always an option, right? I saw *Trainspotting *in the theatre with a bunch of friends and one of them got up and left pretty early on. He had a great time on his own, watching “First Kid”.
I hated it. If you were a rabid feminist maybe you’d like it. Also, if you liked stupid whiny people. There are a lot of other movies out there that are better. In fact, just about anything would be…
Almost 2 yr old bump for a question. Did you ever end up seeing this? I only ask because I just watched it on HBO the other night and was so absolutely baffled by it I figured I’d check the LR to see if there had been a raging debate about it. I was surprised by said debate’s absence.
No disagreement here. I wanted to punch her in the face throughout. I will say she looked pretty smokin’ though (no pun intended). What irks the piss outta me though is the ending, or any ending that has no explicitly detailed resolution. Like Steve Harvey said in the Kings of Comedy: “I paid thirty eight fiddy. You Scream.” I paid my darn money not to think, you resolve this crap for me…
In the end, I actually took home a message from it;
Love the one you’re with.
Love the little things in life.
There are too many ways anyone’s life can fall short of perfect, and people just tear themselves apart trying to live up to that. At least in the movies.
