Anyone using these. I was looking for some recent reviews, I did a search but didn’t come up with much.
i recently started with these. Not yet run anything longer than about 6miles in them yet but I like them so far. I also plan to try out the racers at some point and am considering using them for the chicago marathon.
(For background, I used DS-Trainers for many, many years and have dabbled with Saucony Fastwitch and Newton Distance-S most recently)
FYI I saw that Nike is coming out with a version with a tad more stability for the fall. I did a short run in the current model and found them to be very cushy but I need a tad more stability.
The first shoe I’ve ever bought that I’ve now stocked up on because I know they’re gonna change a good thing.
I started with the Livestrong hideously ugly ones (cuz they were on sale cheaper) and will be moving to the hideously ugly neon greens next I want to try the racers too.
Great shoes. Lots of people like them. Definitely not for everyone. They don’t feel like a lot of other shoes.
The newer model is already out via nike.com, and will be available from other stores in 2-3 weeks…
they chew up many peoples achilles tendons the first couple runs.
the racers are actually better in that regard.
i would just use racers

Liked em so much I ran my last mary in a brand new pair.
Nike modified the achilles area after the initial shoes…I don’t know if that’s totally fixed that problem or not for everyone.
I have the trainers and the racers (got both right before the Beijing games). The racers use a much softer foam (fyi). The trainers have a wide stable base, are quite light 8.5oz. and very breathable. They are stable and well cushioned (not a motion control shoe though). If you want a light weight, well cushioned trainer that’s light enough to race in too (and you can deal with the neon) look no further. At Wildflower the CalPoly students gave me lots of props on the neon, but I’ve seen people wearing them around town and they don’t really go with Dockers ;P. With the new shoe coming out, the LunarTrainers are about 40% off on Nike’s site and most stores.
The new “improved” version they are releasing is 10.5oz. and much more of an all-around shoe (heavier upper, more durable sole, more control features)…suitable for a much different audience IMO.
As much as I like the LunarTrainer, the racer is the real star. Hyper light (5.3oz) but cushioned enough for many of my training runs. The upper is also a non water absorbing mesh that won’t bog down. The one knock I have on the racer is a very short tounge that is hard to grab for putting them on in T2.
Loved 'em except for the giant, humoungous blister I got on my achilles. Totally put me off those suckers.

Not tried the trainer, but the racer, agreed is too short of a tongue to put on quickly, also for me the achilles blister as well. After a week its a bit better, but maybe because I’m making sure to get the sock above the heel, not for barefoot for me anyway.
I have both the trainers and racers and love them both. The trainers a much wider and I find them to be fairly stable for a shoe not marketed as such. Also, for a trainer then are very light. Just size up 1/2 for the trainers - the racers seem to run true to size.

I have 2 pair now, as they feel great! I have the red and white versions, and love them. I have a very narrow foot, so was concerned, but unlike some here, I found the racers to be much more tight and constricting, so they must run a little small. That said, I like my shoes with very little room at the toes. I did a 2 hour run yesterday on a pair with 3 runs on them, and they felt so much better than my DS Trainers and Skylons that I wondered why I waited. I’ll be buying some more pairs before they screw these up. And no achilles issues whatsoever, so they must have changed them. Great shoe!
I am trying to love mine but keep getting blisters on the lower big toe, there is some material in there that rubs the keck out of my foot. I did not think i had a wide foot but maybe i do for nike?

Link? Just looked on nikestore.com and they were still 100 bones.
Love the trainers. Haven’t used the racers. The trainers have a unique feel that I’ve never felt before in a shoe…love 'em

($80.00 on the website)
I see them as low as $70 online: http://www.become.com/nike-lunar?&qet
I got my last pair for $60 at the Nike Store (Palo Alto, CA). They were fire sale-ing the neons, but still wanted $100 for the LiveStrongs.
I can’t find anywhere to try the Racers out. Did my first run in the Trainers last night, a 12 miler and loved em. If i like the trainers is it safe to assume I will like the Racers and just order them offline?

I found them to fit pretty differently. I would recommend trying them on.
I saw two patients in clinic today who had been long-time runners, switched to the lunar trainers and got achilles tendinopathy. Not science, but agrees with other anecdotes I’ve heard.

Did they use an adjustment period or just jump right into training with them full time? When I switched to Frees I jumped right into training with them full time and had achilles and Anterior tib issues. Then I backed off a bit and phased them in. Now have no problem doing 35+ of my miles a week in the frees. Your body can adapt to changes, you just have to give it time to adjust.
