Reviews of iphone

anybody buy one?

if so, what’s the review?

FWIW, my husband has snagged my laptop. it is no matter, i hardly used it (because that is not a good travelling device for me–it’s too big, etc).
i have a blackberry that is only mediocre. some emails don’t come through; email was the point of getting it in the first place. i like the idea of a small device doing alot of things. that’s what i need.

even though tech stuff doesn’t jazz me; i’m a 1 person shop, and need effective equipment to manage everything i need to do. iphone would probably do alot more for me; internet; email; pics, etc, than the blackberry (which hardly works but costs nearly as much as iphone).

it’s about time to from the blackberry, so that’s the purpose of my asking. i was thinking of waiting until the 2nd iphone version comes out…whenever that is.

I have this phone from Samsung. It is the latest. It has some new technology that actually allows you to make phone calls you can hear clearly. Very advanced.

I don’t know what else it does except taking the occasional photograph of the inside of my pocket, but it works great for phone calls.

yes–what i need is a tiny mobile office. this would allow me more freedom; and better time/taks management while on the road.

Your post reminds me of a radio commercial around here.

“Older” lady walks into a phone place. Sales person starts going off “It has games, plays music, E-mail, 73000 ring tones, Text messaging, pictures…” and on and on.

Short pause.

Lady; “Does it make phone calls?”

my cell phone is made by something like Kyrorea or whatever and works great EXCEPT like every other cell phone I’ve had it has buttons on the OUTSIDE of the case, one of which keeps switching it to SILENT MODE which bugs the shit out’a me.

Yes, this phone also does text messages. I know this since it starts playing tunes at 3:00 in the morning when my daughter sends me a text message to let me know she will be getting home late. Very helpful, along with the photographs at random times of my pocket.

I never seem to drop a call from my end and I can actually hear the other person though.

I only go for the latest and greatest.

When I want web surfing and email and the like, I use something called a computer for that. Also the latest. It has a large screen that you can actually read, which I understand is the latest innovation.

Same here. I’m guessing it could or should be able to be programed to be inactive when shut…but I haven’t gotten that far. I miss ALOT of calls because of this.

I used to have that feature too, but the battery started to die and it was cheaper just to get a new phone. My new phone doesn’t have that feature either, but did I mention that it makes good phone calls?

I just got the V3xx razor. I’ve been very impressed by its abilities. it has internet, email and lots of functions I will never use. it is so thin I just stick it in my pocket. I went on eBay and ordered the USB cord and software to upload ringtones and wallpaper. I also got a CD full of ringtones and the wallpapers.

oh, it also holds the micro SD card to store MP3’s and pictures.

the iphone is just too bulky for me to carry around. the razor is a rather heavy phone, but thin. I’ve always like the flip phones better.

Meow,
Here is a review that was half decent. Some of the reader comments are also helpful. The general consensus among nerds is that it is an amazing device that is missing many things. Some of these can be added through a firmware update, and some will have to wait until iphone gen 2.
A good friend of mine has one and I have played with it. There are a few things that would have to be added before I would pay that much for it. But it is fun to play with.

That sounds awesome where do I pick something like that up?

I’m a big fan of the razr too. Simply the best cell phone I’ve ever had. I’m up for a new phone in a couple months and I don’t see anything else out there as appealing so I think I’m going to just get another one. The only thing I don’t like about it is the Verizon interface. I wish they’d sell the phone with the standard Moto software like the other carriers.

I have seen pictures that compare the two. If I remember correctly, the iphone is a bit longer but is actually thinner.
edit…yep, the iphone is longer, 115mm vs 98mm, wider 61mm vs 55mm, heavier 135 grams vs 95 grams, but it is thinner at 11.6 mm vs the razr at 13.9mm.

Lets not promote an insidious trend.

that’s all i needed to know. thanks! for discussion sake, what things would you like that it doesn’t have?

I wouldn’t have expected the iphone to be thinner. thanks.

If you go to a store and ask for something called a laptop computer, it will not only come with a screen you can read but also a keyboard on which you can actually type.

You can use these at high tech shops like McDonalds that allow you to connect ot the internet via something called a hotspot. Again, strictly the latest.

KC,

When I traveled last week (flight: Baltimore to Manchester, NH, which is considered a suburb of Boston) I must have seen ten gazillion people with an iPhone. All looked happy. I got to peek over their shoulders to see it working “in action”: very cool, and they all seemed to be working very well with it.

I also watched the iPhone ‘tour’ on the Apple website - again, very cool.

As for your husband snagging your laptop, and the laptop being too big… I can recommend a small Mac laptop if you truly want to travel with it (12"). I’ve seen friends with this and they love its small size and accessibility. They don’t do what I do (graphics and video) but for other work, they find even daily walking-around very easy.

I have a 15" G4 Mac Powerbook. In laymen’s terms, that means I am slightly behind the current Apple computer (a G5 with dual PC/Mac) – but it works great and serves me very well. When the new operating system comes out, I will be putting it on this computer. My computer is big enough to work on, but not too big to bring to places when needed; I will even bring the laptop when visiting clients, to show them things I have been working on. It’s also great on vacations.

That being said, it would be even more light & portable if it was the 12".

As for a work phone: I and many friends have a Palm Treo. This allows both web and email, text-messaging (a big plus for me), and minor photos. It’s easy to carry and easy to type. I don’t have web on mine, but I can still do emails via text-messaging when needed. It also handles documents.

However, i am looking forward to getting an iPhone one day. I think it will go great with my Mac, and I am very pleased with Apple’s products (except for the DRM stuff) and how they work with my lifestyle. I hope it doesn’t sound like I am trying to talk you into my “iPhone buddy”, because that’s not my intent: in reality, I’m simply looking at these devices in the same way you are.

I hope it doesn’t sound like I am trying to talk you into my “iPhone buddy”, because that’s not my intent:

Are sure you are not one of these Apple-Nazi cultists? That really seemed like an undercover hard sell there.

Really like my Samsung Blackjack. I used to be a Blackberry guy but the phone quality wasn’t the best. Blackjack has e-mail, phone (good quality), camera, MP3, and windows mobile. Easy for work travel.
