Not finding this race on either Rev 3’s or Challenge’s websites. Not finding information anyplace else regarding this race being discontinued. Does anyone know the story?
Not sure. I have been wondering the same thing about the Wisconsin Dells race. Appears that they just dropped them. There weren’t that many competitors at the Dells last year. My guess is that they just weren’t profitable enough for the cost of putting them on.
I don’t have much to run off of, but it does appear on their map of events and does have its own domain on the Challenge Family USA site (its currently empty).
That said, probably would expect something here later this month.

The Wisconsin Dells event needs someone locally to pick it up and make it what part of a 70.3 series with Door County 70.3 in July and the Duluth, MN SuperiorMan 70.3 event held in late August. That would be a great threesome of 70.3 events in Wisconsin/MN.
It will probably be added when it goes on sale.
Challenge Anderson was included when they announced Challenge Family, Wisconsin Dells was dropped I believe
This was discussed on the local area’s tri facebook page… official response from Challenge that there will be no race in Anderson next year.
official response: “As of right now, Anderson is not on our schedule. We hope you can make another one of our events in the south east”
If they didn’t schedule it the same weekend as a home Clemson University football game, they’d probably have better attendance.

doubtful. most athletes in the area compete in the SCTS put on by SetUp Events and the final event, at a great venue, is always put on the same day as Rev3 Anderson. The race also gets weighted greater into the final series rankings than any other race, so it draws most people who would do the race away. Add in Augusta 70.3, which is usually within 2 weeks of it, and now IM Chattanooga and what you get is a race no one is wanting to go to Anderson SC for.
Lot of race competition in the area. Would be nice to see a good summer half in the area, but unfortunately not many people would sign up for a race in 90 degree water and heat. Spring isn’t an option either with Rev3 Knoxville, Florida 70.3, Charleston Half, and now Chattanooga 70.3.
This year’s Anderson race had a ‘pack it in’ feel to it for some reason.
As a series participant in SCTS, I agree with you and competing against SCTS isn’t good for business. But neither is competing against Clemson football.
I was in Clemson that weekend with no thoughts of competing in the Rev Race. However, make it March/April- I’d do it over TryCharleston.

Good point. October seemed like an unrealistic head-head with Augusta, but nothing in the upstate in the late spring. But, Knoxville (and now Chattanooga) are probably too close.
Personally, I think we’ve got good options with Charleston, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Raleigh, Lake Logan and Augusta all within 4 hours. I’d rank all of those ahead of Anderson (although I haven’t done Knoxville or Chattanooga, yet.)
