Return to riding after injury, advice sought

Five weeks ago I had the misfortune to break my left clavicle in the centre of it’s shaft requiring pinning and plating (and subsequent membership of Team Ti). My rehab is going well and I anticipate hearing, in a fortnights time, that the specialist will allow me to progress from riding the trainer to outside riding.

My question is this; what would be the most sensible way to return, on my full sus mtb, the hardtail with front suspension (all on road Khai!) or on my road bike? I am keeping the tri bike and aero position WAY in the future.

Bump.

Are you completely off your rocker?

I can’t imagine that there’s any question that a mtb - fs/hardtail or otherwise would be a good introduction back to riding in the real world.
Your best transition would be from the trainer to the track, and then to open roads in areas where traffic is minimal. I have no idea how much weight/force you can put on that joint right now, but I’m guessing it isn’t a lot?

Did I say that I would be riding the HT or FS off road? Never assume…

Unfortunately the track is too far for my arm to take the drive up there it’s not like a trip to Burnaby for you. Plus ROM for my shoulder is limited and although I think gear changing should be ok, it will be interesting to stretch to the wheel and turning.

Bump for some practical advise.
