so i got my iphone tonight. haven’t yet paired it with my chrysler uconnect in-car hands-free system. apparently, judging by forum boards, the iphone (even tho it’s bluetooth) just won’t properly work with uconnect (or systems in a lot of other cars). so, my relationship with my iphone might last only a day or two. i can change my phone easier than i can change my car.

any wisdom anyone else can give would be great.
No insight for your particular problem, but faced with a similar dilemma I’d change my car before I gave up my iPhone. From my cold, dead hands…
If there is a will there is a way! Just need to keep reading. I am sure there are some apps out there that will help assist with Uconnect. If not just need to start posting that as a good app idea and before you know it some 24yr old programmer will be there with a $2.99 app to help you connect your phone to your car in no time.
I love my iPhone. I’d trade in my wife first. Without it I could never keep up with the Gary Hall Sr. Thread. (If you haven’t seen it and you have 1/2 day you should read it).
I had no problem hooking it up with my Garmin Nuvi. Now everytime I get into tmy car they automatically link. Works great.
I understand your frustration. Ironically, I am going through a very similar transition. Although for me it’s going from a Palm Treo to a Blackberry Curve.
Upfront whenever, you ask about how the technology change and transfer will go( and I always make sure to ask these key questions), these young-bucks selling the stuff say “No problem. Totally easy”!! I guess these young people have a lot of time on their hands because, I have now spent the better part of a day - a full day, trying to deal with tech issues on this new Blackberry. Strangly, I was able to get better and superior tech help via Twitter of all places, from a regular Slowtwitch poster - Jenhs - who has put me on the path of a smoother transition. She’s been a saint!
I had been using the Palm OS on several different devices over the years and had hardly had any problems so was reluctant to change. But my service provider, Telus, is phasing out of Palm devices for the time being and the Blackberry seemed a reliable and well known option - and a Canadian company to. Like to support the home team. However, it’s been a bit of an uphill struggle I have to tell you.
Apparently there is one version of the iPhone software where it does not like the uConnect. There was a new version of the software that just came out, have you tried that one yet?
I have the same problem with the system in my BMW they call it the “echoing effect” For me I had to make sure I had the Bluetooth volume on the highest setting. This eliminates the echoing somewhat for me in the car but for people on the other end they say it sucks. I had a blackberry before and it was crystal clear. I-phone is worth it though. I’ve been on all the forums and so far that is the best they have come up with.
