I’ve looked at a couple of other people’s tests, and theirs are all below 100 for the entire test except the all-out at 5% gradient part at the beginning. One guy was even in the 50’s.
The test was 4 minutes all out, then 4 minute repeats increasing the speed every 4 minutes. 1 minute break between each repeat.
Did they get some small amount of blood from finger/ear? What machine did they use to analyze the blood sample? When did you last eat before the test? You popped a gel right before, didn’t you. Cheater.
Disclaimer: I’m not an MD, I just play one w/ Monk’s sister.
dont worry about the glucose, it is completely inside the normal range…
126 is the response from you liver for the hormones you released when started and ran at high effort, adrenalin, cortisol etc etc, they are glucose releaser… comes from our anciests… The man would ran away from the hungry lion… his body would have glocuse enough so he wouldn´t get cought ( I would as crap runner I am!)
yeah, agree with SmartAC… 13km/h is far worse from 126 glucose…
Okay…I just want to make sure I’m not an idiot, but your Lactat Threshold Heart Rate is 198? Are you a hummingbird? Most people I know max out at around 195 at the end of sprint. Heck, I read Lance Armstrong’s HR during TTs (which is prob. around LT) is like 180. Let me know if I’m wrong???
that could be right, I run a 5k in the mid 190s, did it last year going 220 for the first mile (I was curious to see if I could stick with the lead pack…) then hauling my hurting ass in at 199 for the last two miles. Max HR doesn’t tell much of a story one atlete to the next.
It’s easier to spot the lactate break point. This way the lactate is high at the beginning of the test and comes down for most of it. When it starts going up again that’s your LT.
The speeds are slower than normal though. My legs were toast from the all out effort (I hate starting out fast). I think this is the reason I don’t like duathlons. If I start out fast I can never hit my target pace for the run.
edit: I’m 16 in a week
edit2: And no, I did not pop a gel right before the test.
I did eat one right before a math test once to see if it helps; Nope.
This test seems completely screwed up. I am guessing it is the sprint at the start. I never heard of that one before.
I would think these old, fat, slow bones would be moving faster than 7:30 miles, if my arithmetic is right, at threshold. I did an outstanding 5K the other day. I won’t tell you the time, because you will laugh. Suffice it to say I am at least 1 minute/mile slower than you.
On the other hand, I can smoke your math test for you.
Everything is done at the same slope. And that is a valid protocol to find the lactate breakpoint, which is somewhat lower than MLSS. I don’t have the reference to it here, I can get it tomorrow if you want.
