My training is pretty run focused at the moment since it is my weakest area. Im at about 28-32 mpw for the last 3 weeks. Do I take a rest week now? If so what do I drop the mileage down to and what kind of workouts do I do during the rest week? If not, when should I take a rest week?
???

Are you just cruising on your runs? Tempo? Maybe try some intervals. Changes it up a bit and generally means a lower mileage/week if you’re going hard on them since you don’t really go for distance.
To: ??? x2…I agree
There is no need for a built in rest week. The only thing you need to do is back off on the intensity of you harder runs when you feel tired or overtrained.
Sooooooo if I don’t feel at all tired or overtrained I dont need a rest week at all, period?

That’s how I play it. I started BarryP’s 6x week running program back in January. I started at 3/6/9 and have only pulled back my weekly volume and/or intensity for races or the occasional minor ache or pain.
I’m currently 10 weeks out from the marathon and have steadily built up my weekly mileage to almost 80 right now. However, I am currently in the process of loosing a toenail from all this running. Man, it stings!
