Response to THE SWIM SET

O.K. lets get one thing straight I am not even in the same league as johnnyo or rappstar but I am young, stupid, bored, and have access to a pool all day. No way i could do the IM part of the set so here is my goal

400 swim on 6:00
400 pull on 6:45
100 kick on 2:15
200 hard on 3:00

16X 18,000 (yards) sorry no access to meters

Doing it this afternoon

There’s no reason to do the 200 hard. You’re gonna be exhausted by round 4 or 5 if you go the 200 hard.

Your 200 hard is on the same pace as the 400S unless you plan to take very little rest after the 400S or a lot of rest after the 200H.

jaretj

if you’re gonna even mention this in the slightest comparison to THE SWIM SET, you need to change that 200 hard to 200IM.

what you could do is do the 400m IM drill…you will learn the im and get better at it…

and dont…dont …dont do a hard 200m…you will die quickly… it s a marathon training session…

but first…dont bust your shoulders, there is stuff you need to do before jumping in a long workout like rappstar did yestruday… it would be dangerous for injury to do so if you havent been putting in some 10k workout every week for the last few weeks… what is imporant to realise is that when me or rappstar did this, it was during a swim block and these sets where the grand finaly of a few weeks of 50-70km/week…not out of the blue…

replace 200 hard with 200 back. Put that intensity into the 400’s…

Maybe 100IM, 300swim, 400 pull, 100 kick, 200 back? OR 100IM/400swim/400pull/100kick/100back?

That way you still have a bit of IM.

o.k. done with work for the day and i think i will make the 200 hard into a 200 im.

I have been doing 10 K days twice a week for the last 2 weeks so i hope i will be fine. if it starts to hurt to bad i will stop.

Well here i go

400 swim on 6:00
400 pull on 6:45

Is the 400 pull a recovery after the 400 swim?

Cheers,
Alex

have fun
.

made it.

400 swim on 6:15
400 pull on 6:00
100 kick
200 IM 30 sec rest

16X (5:00 hours)

shoulders hurt the last hour but i held the same pace all the way through

Ya know, I was thinking about this “challenge” on my cold, dark run tonight and was trying to think of a similar run in the context your swim “feats” perspective, but I could not … even after an hour … and I come back see that you survived.

Anyway, great job - that would be a pretty good WEEK for me

I’m sure you could come with some hellish, long interval workout…

Congrats, broccolimark.
