My Adamo Race saddle is getting a little long in the tooth, and will be getting replaced soon. Overall, I’ve found it to be an acceptable (but not great) saddle for races up to half-iron distance. But, that’s pushing it.
Despite having it for a few years, I can’t honestly say that I’ve acclimated to the lack of sitbone padding. It’s great for shorter distances, but anything over ~50 miles and it really starts to get old. However, I do love the fact that I never go numb “down there”. So, I’m looking for alternatives.
I could go with an Adamo Road to keep the same shape but get a little additional sitbone padding. But, since I’m considering moving up to an iron-distance race next season, I’m not sure that’s going to be enough. So, maybe the Cobb Maxx would be a better choice.?. At least with the Cobb, I’d have the trial period to find out…
Any input/suggestions?
I’ve tried a few other saddles including the Fizik Arione (road version), stock Cervelo (Selle Italia) TT, Selle Italia SLR, Profile Tri Stryke and Selle SMP Evolution. All of them with the exception of the Evolution (which was just too narrow) caused numbness.
Has anyone had similar experience with the Adamo Race and found nirvana with another saddle?
This is going to be a thread of nothing but personal preference testimonies so here’s mine. In the one and only IM I did, I used the Adamo Road and it was great. I tried the V Flow Max for one session but hated it.
I know that ISM makes even more padded versions than the Road but they weigh more.
Consider the standard old school flite saddle. At first there’s numbness, and then there’s pleasure. Why go for a boring saddle when you can get a prostate massage while you ride?
Selle Italia Flite, the choice of men who are comfortable with their sexuality!
For what it’s worth … I was in a similar situation as you a few months ago (but I liked the Adamo Race reasonably well for IM distances) … and tried the Cobb Max which is really really comfy for the first 15 miles before the soft padding becomes really really uncomfortable. I am back to the hard Adamo Race.
